So, look at the first picture. We need to multiply two numbers, 13 and 12. Note that numbers have different colours.
First we will draw 1 red horizontal line for number 1 in number 13 (red colour) than below that one line we will draw 3 blue horizontal lines for number 3 in number 13 (blue color). After that we will draw 1 green vertical line for number 1 in number 12 (green colour) over the horizontal lines we’ve already drew. Finally, we will draw 2 black vertical lines for number 2 in number 12 (black colour) over the horizontal lines.

Now, look carefully at the places where vertical lines cross horizontal lines.
1)There is only 1 place where we draw vertical line over the horizontal line. So remember this number 1.
2)There are 5 places where we draw horizontal line over the vertical line and vice versa. Now, remember number 5.
3)Finally, there are 6 places where we drew vertical lines over horizontal lines.
