DB says it’s as hot as the sun.

But that can’t be true. If Amaterasu was as hot as the sun it would not only vaporize everything within miles. It’ll vaporize Sasuke as well.

Even if it was the suns surface temperature it would still be too hot to use in battle.

Man you think the raikage could shrug it off like that if it was as hot as the sun?

Heck no he’d be liver pudding

DB has exaggerations .
"Temari can destroy the universe " , "Preta path can absorb any jutsu"

Its for emphasis of being extremely hot hotter than anything else, exaggeration is a form of praise used without being litteral.

It is hot as sun. Gyuki tanked lava but failed to tank Amaterasu.

No one in the Narutoverse went near the sun.

At most the closest they were was on top of the Moon in the LAST.

Even the outer layer of the sun being sent to Earth would implode by gravity causing shock waves that would devastate , let alone the Sun is not a flame but plasma.

If it were hot as the sun, then Karin would've been a pile of ashes.

Its not as hot as the sun but it is the hottest jutsu tho. The more the user focues on the amaterasu the stronger/hotter it is. It was shown in kabuto vs itachi

Kabuto said it was the best ocular jutsu and best offense also.

Lava is anywhere between 1200 and 2150 degrees Fahrenheit / 650 degrees Celsius - 1120 degrees Celsius.

The hottest flames recorded have a temperature of 5500 degrees Fahrenheit / 3000 degrees Celsius.

Conversely the sun has a temperature of almost 10K degrees Fahrenheit / 5550 degrees Celsius

I’d put Amaterasu somewhere between the hottest chemical flames we can produce and the surface temperature of the sun.

By comparison a burning cigarette is only 750 degrees Fahrenheit / 400 degrees Celsius

Yep, that’s why cigarette butts give you such a gnarly burn. Human body temperature is pretty finicky. Even raising it by a couple degrees will turn your brain to jelly. Skin is no exception. Expose it to temperature around 120 degrees Fahrenheit/ 88 Celsius and you’re looking at minor burns over a short period of time. Even higher temperatures will cause severe burns in a matter of seconds.
