No, its killed in its unstopable black flames, how are you going to stop that exactly? (Main characters only doged it..) A lost his freaken arm and the black fire would have spread more on his body so he cut of his own arm becuase of that, he would have also lost his leg if gara din't step in. Its not overrated, is overused, and with the combination of susano's, no wonder why saskue whent blind.... his new ems won't realy though.
It's the best damn shizz in the whole manga. believe it. lol
On a serious note, Amatersu is so under-rated. The thing is hell fire for the love of god. No one can dodge it without techniques. Even someone like A used two techniques to barely side-step.

Well.. if people are saying that it can destroy Konoha and kill everybody in it, yes that's heavily overrating it. Amaterasu is a powerful tool, but tactics can easily override powerful tools. A prime example would be Temari and Kankuro's teamwork to save a samurai from getting burned to a crisp by Amaterasu. They're tiers below Sasuke, but they did figure a way around the situation.
Well it took two elite jounin and strong metal armour to barely save a fodder from amaterasu. I'd say it is very powerful nonetheless. I don't think anyone on the Base overrated amaterasu to the extent that they say it solos a village. To my knowledge, no one has said this, not even die hard fan boys.
I do agree it is overrated because wasting it on a clone will drain a huge amount of chakra and people always say Itachi/Sasuke win using amaterasu even though many times the opponent can use bunshin feints.
