Oh, so you were talking about that. Yes, if by stick you mean created a barrier to completely shield himself from Sasuke's field of vision.
That was Kagu-Tsuchi.
That was Kagu-Tsuchi.

what barrier dude ?? he was flipping his the damn stick to block it (reread/rewatch the whole thing).
Where exactly does that motion lead you to believe that Obito used his staff for any other purpose than what I just said?
Obito started moving right after Sauske unleashed his Amaterasu, something instant wouldn't leave him room to react (even if he anticipated it) also look at the motion of Amaterasu after being repelled by Obito's block.
and you keep repeating the "field of vision" explanation when it has nothing to do with it, Amaterasu does Travel (really fast) from the user's eye to the target, only the fastest of targets or the ones that can anticipate it can deal with it.
@Bold, This is not shown, nor implied. He absorbs it, there's nothing off about that motion.
After it is activated it follows the center of the users vision, aside from that, Ama spawns, it's never implied to fly out of the users eye socket.
Actually in a ways it does appear from the user's eyes, otherwise Gara and Jubito shouldn't be able to react/block FLAMES that are supposed to instantly appear on their bodies if the user is just looking at you.
and yeah it might not be clear here who started Jubito (blocking) or Sasuke (attacking but, the exact same scene (exact same details) was clearer in the Anime.
overall Amaterasu has been one of if not the most inconsistent Jutsu in this series, especially when it comes to the speed (from Gara to Raikage to Obito and even when Itachi used it) and how fast it can burn it's target but, that's a different discussion.
Obito was implied to have the ability to sense chakra build up, and with Rinnegan he should be able to see Ama coming easily. As I said, Gaara blocked Kagu-Tsuchi which controls already existing flames, which is why it was flung at 3 targets simultaneously.
This is true regarding consistency, though that's mostly been nerfing it's heat, rather than the mechanics of the jutsu.
Edited that post.
what Gara blocked during the kage summit wasn't a from of "Kagu-Tsuchi", the flames were appearing right in front of the Raikage.

Seriously, you think if someone can anticipate something Instant, he can react to it ??
remember this is not FTG where the user will still have to move to strike his target after teleporting, this is flames that appear on the target meaning, unavoidable the exact moment the user looked at you.
Why are you using anime as an example? Or is that a game animation? Either way, it's non canon, and that even more-so than the anime. Gaara blocked Kagu-Tsuchi in the manga.
Amaterasu has prep time, it's been sensed and countered by numerous people.

There, Amaterasu spawning on the focal point of the users vision.
Look in the description of the video, it's from Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. I've seen that episode of the anime, this doesn't happen, but the anime screws up adapting events too often to consider them credible, even as an example in motion.
All I'm saying is that stating someone dodged Ama is misunderstanding the mechanics of the jutsu.
lol can't believe i linked the wrong video ................... (apologies)
but, someone blocking it like Obito makes the whole "instant" thing questionable (no one can react no matter what to instant) unless they know it's prep time + can sense the power build up which is another thing that's inconsistent, the prep time that is.
anyways i'll leave it at that.
