in sasuke vs raikage,

Ay(with his chakra armor on) hit sasuke's amaterasu flame-covered susanoo , catching some on his arm too...

but if amaterasu flames will vanish as they burn through a layer of chakra (as some users assert on NB) ,

why is it that raikege's arm was still burning after he deactivates his armor ? (when amaterasu must have burned through a layer of chakra of certain thickness)

In my belief , it implies amaterasu can actually continue burning even after devouring a layer of chakra , ultimately hitting the flesh of the victim , which is a counter to the mentioned assertion

Amaterasu burns something until it is:

a) turned off by the jutsu caster (e.g. Sasuke Uchiha).
b) completely destroyed.

Answer to thread title: yes.

Sasuke's Amaterasu is too inconsistent. It failed to cause damage the samurai's armor or Karin after they were exposed to it for substantial periods, but Danzo also used Izanagi immediately upon contact.

So, it depends.

it depends on how much amaterasu flames can destroy b4 vanishing , irrelevant the damage it causes to the victim .
