Amaterasu: 100% Useless Against Any Competent Shinobi

Heavenly Rotation, which works in a similar fashion to Almighty Push, would be capable of stopping Amaterasu or other fire jutsus. It's not clear exactly how Amaterasu behaves. It has been depicted numerous times behaving as both a projectile and a 'manifest' type attack. Further - It is not clear what can or cannot stop it. However, going by the fact that Ay was able to dodge it, this shows it's a projectile.

The Byakugan grants it's user the ability to read and detect it's surroundings much faster than a regular eye, which would make it much easier to spot Amaterasu or Blaze release techniques coming. Heavenly Rotation forms a high-speed dome of chakra around the user, and protects them from all angles.

It is also not clear what insights the Byakugan may be able to provide in regards to the structure of Amaterasu, which may allow them to manipulate it far more readily than others who lack such abilities (as the Byakugan provides far more insight than the Sharingan). Even seeing the buildup of chakra in the eye could be enough for them to devise a way to counter.

Neji is capable of seeing Deidara's chakra build up here.

Nagato' statement "This pressure!" Seems to indicate that there is chakra being built up behind the eye, so it's not much of a stretch to say that the Byakugan could very well see the attack incoming. This ability basically allows for them to see what attck their opponent is about to use and plan their counter against it, as all nin & genjutsu requires chakra to perform.

that's great xD but if Neji(or any Hyuga) went against Sasuke and all he could use was Amateratsu & enton , Sasuke would burn the Hyuga to death. *_* every time Amateratsu is dodged, it will spread all over the ground and the Hyuga will be in he77 :bouncy: I love neji though

Lol What a ridiculous thread. That Madara scan was a gem. Clearly all characters have the luxury of ninjutsu absorption. Nagato - had he been alive - would look like that, dead underneath the flames. Katien countering Amaterasu ... My goodness.

Only Nagato arm was damaged there's a scan in the thread that proves it, Unless Amaterasu can burn through chakra now the Katien can counter it.

Its about as effective as Naruto Rasengan Shuriken. Both as hail mary shots, this late in the game. It also seems to hurt when they *miss* with it.

I don't think its a coincidence both moves were used in conjunction either.

honestly the fire burns way to slow for it to be completely useful. it has never really taken out anybody above fodder level. the only time it is actually useful is when sasuke uses enton, which is the minipulation of amaterasu, thats the only time. i actually think regular fire jutsu are better than it.

Fact is, Eight Tails would have gone into rebirth mode had Sasuke not turned off the flames. It was screaming its guts out, when this same Eight Tails survived its own fully charged Tbb and the blast back of its own Tbb that pushed back the continent busting Tbb of V2 Juubi.

It didn't destroy Natural Energy the heat from the Amaterasu cancelled out Kabuto's technique and the shape of the Cave reverted form.
Also the amaterasu was burning on both Karin and the samurai for a while and it didn't leave any premenant damage so no nagato could have still pushed it off if he was alive and it wouldn't have killed him.

What was the cave animated with? Animate means to give Life. The technique was Inorganic Transmigration and it used Natural Energy in the surrounding Area to Animate or Give Life to the Environment. Amaterasu's heat alone Destroyed the NE fueling the entire Cave's animation, hence it reverted back to how it was.

The scans are as clear cut as they can be.
