Who just does not find Kishi's "humor" humorous at all? I've found it humorous in the past, way back in the day of J-man and at times in part 1 but I just have not found Kishi's comedy relief neither humorous nor entertaining. I understand it's supposed to be entertaining but I'm just not feeling it.

Not only was it not entertaining but it just seemed severely ill-timed and that there was way too much focus with it. In the flashback, it wasn't as bad as it was a flashback but even then, it just felt like it was somewhat forced. During a time as dark as the death of our two heroes and the good guys constantly being foiled, it seems like a misplaced time to insert humor where Kishi attempted to. But then again, maybe it's just me.

What do you guys think?

Well, the series strong points don't rest in it's humor/comedy aspect so as Madara would say who cares.

I didn't laugh but I'd rather have comic relief than cheap drama over and over again. Actually I think Kishi does a nice job inserting comic relief among the drama. That is one of the reasons I prefer Naruto over many action manga which tries too hard to be serious.

Seriously, would you rather see Tenten whining about Neji's death after all that time that passed (for us anyway)?

It felt out of place.
Exactly, I felt like such humor could have been better placed in a later chapter where it might have been more entertaining.

hmm, I wasn't trying to categorize humor here. I don't mind American or Japanese humor, I mean I love Oda's taste in humor. I've even found Kishi humorous in the past as I mentioned with J-man in the OP. I usually like Gai sensei's presence in the manga but this time around, it just didn't feel right.

The problem is that there's too much going on for that humor to even be considered funny. We're waiting on answers & he's providing us with jokes...lol

Eh, I guess you have a point but frankly, I feel like Kishi shouldn't have tried to emphasize the comedy aspect if it's not his strong point in the first place.

I guess it's all about how you see it. I don't see it as cheap drama but rather the plot moving forward. I feel like Kishi's comic relief is just ill-timed, thus not making it so entertaining at this time. Maybe I'm comparing it too much with other mangas I've seen but I just feel like there are many other mangakas who's blend of humor and action are better than Kishi's IMO

I can respect that, I missed them too but I just feel like their role at this time wasn't well placed is all

Lmao Karin's obsession is weird in general but Kishi certainly has a strange way of portraying it.

ahhaha no man, i was just telling you how i feel . xD

Nah J-man's pervish humor never really made me laugh. V_V. Not my kind of humor. But idk i liked Gai being there.

That's what I'm saying! We're here anxious for some plot development and Kishi's taking his time with these jokes Lol I just know Kishi can do better.

Yeah, I understand the foreshadowing, but there just seemed like to much emphasis on the humor to me at the time of the foreshadowing.

This too Lol Didn't expect Neji to be used a plot device for comedy relief so soon but that part isn't so bad.

hmm, Well obviously me and you have different tastes in humor. I don't die laughing from the pervish humor of Jiraiya but I found it much more entertaining than the humor in this chapter. I do usually like Gai's humor, like when he carried Kakashi back to the village lol but here, it just didn't seem to great here.

True, there are other manga that are better than Naruto in this regard. Not everything is cheap drama of course but if Tenten was shown crying about Neji it would have been an example of it, at least for me. As for ill-placed, I didn't really think so, maybe because Neji's death never really made an impact on me.

As I said, I didn't laugh out loud but I appreciate some light-heartedness even during dramatic parts.

If you want good comedy go watch The Office or something. Comedy in shonen battle manga is not the greatest, and that is not reason people read it. Moments like this may make you smile but it is just a nice break from the constant drama and seriousness, just to lighten up the tone a bit in these dark times.

You say you like Oda's humor? You mean each straw hat having 1 joke that they use 15,000 times each? It get's old.
