Just about every prediction I read or hear about regarding Boruto's byakugan believes that he got the eye from Hinata. Alot of these people then go even further as to doubt that they would kill off Himawari.
I disagree however , and here is why:
In the panel , we saw Boruto activate that byakugan in what was previously a normal eye (like when Uchihas activate their sharingan eyes). The only case of a byakugan that activates like the sharingan that we have ever seen is Himawari's byakugan. No normal byakugan (like Hinata's) has been shown to activate/deactivate to and from a normal eye.
The fact that Boruto's activates/deactivates like a sharingan makes it more likely in my opinion that Boruto has Himawari's eye , and not Hinata's (whose eye would most likely just permanently stay white in Boruto's eye instead of activating/ deactivating).
It is notable that we have already seen one case of a transplanted byakugan in that kirigakure shinobi Ao. Ao (who got his eye from a normal Hyuuga) already showed that a transplanted byakugan from a normal Hyuuga would just stay white. This further supports my belief that Boruto's byakugan can't be Hinata's.
I will admit however , that I can think of one possible explanation as to why Boruto would be able to deactivate a normal byakugan when Ao couldn't. Unlike Ao , Boruto is actually half Hyuuga. Being a partial Hyuuga (like Himawari) may be what allows a person to activate /deactivate a byakugan eye.
This may be the case . However , I see it as much more likely that Boruto's byakugan is simply Himawari's eye.
What do you guys think?
