Obito was ready to die for his friends trusting the life of Rin to Kakashi, then he comes back to aid them just in time to see him betray his promise and kill her with his own hands. Kakashi didn't just let her die, he killed her for the mission after all the trouble they went through the Gaiden. It is not just for a girl, it is because his idealistic view of the world is shattered, he witnessed the real world is cruel and doesn't have a place for his Naruto-esque idealistic viewpoint and the only way to fix it is with the Moon's Eye Plan.

mmm.I don't think Rin's death is the whole thing behind it. Just the catalyst. Remember, Madar did tell him that he would return to him. I get the feeling Madara was behind Rin's death to drive Obito into his care.

You fail to understand, rin's death was the reason obito did not return back to konoha and decided that madara was right when he the longer you live the more pain you suffer and that this reality is hell.

It's the same with nagato he was doing the right thing but yahiko's death made him realise that there is only pain.

Obito watched Kakashi kill rin. You think he would have ended his life there and that would have been his revenge. No, I think there is more to it then that. Rin's death drove Obito back to Madara. Madara merely fostered that pain with the realities of the world they lived in. Like Nagato, he experienced the horrors of the ninja war and as yahiko was the breaking point for Nagato, Rin was the breaking point for Obito, but not the sole reason behind his Moon's Eye Plan.
