[Discussion] Am I the only one who doesn't think Roger was all that strong?

It's flat out said that Roger's death sparked the Pirate Age that's so intense with competition, so there clearly wasn't as much back then. We even have a statement that he crept under Big Mom's nose to get her poneglyph. I'm not saying I don't think he's strong, I just don't think he has his own tier like people keep saying & implying. All we're aware of is that his Second Mate could take an admiral and that he himself could fight evenly with Prime Garp & Whitebeard a number of times.

I think you could only hype him up to the extent I see if you believe Prime Whitebeard & Garp could low/mid-diff all the other Yonko or something ridiculous like that. By the end of the story, I'm sure we all expect Zoro & Sanji to compete with admirals after Luffy overcomes Kaido, which is guaranteed to NOT be some moderately difficult fight but mission impossible.

Well in his hype it stated that he stalemated a prime Whitebeard when in actually we learned that he beat him in a fight and found Rafael.
With that said, how strong do you view a person who is just above Prime Whitebeard?
On top of that he gained 3 ancient weapons as well so his military might was strong too.

i think roger was the strongest but not a god. i think roger could 1v1 anyone , high diff against two adrimal\yonko but no more.

the most feared and greatest power known in one piece is the ability to make enemies into allies even during a battle. making beast and animals your friend is one thing but making a humanoid beast your bitch is another. roger had that ability and so does luffy.... watch out

Let's take a look at all the top tiers who were alive during Rogers era...

Whitebeard
Big Mom
Garp
Sengoku
Kong
Shiki
Unknown Admirals (There are 3 admirals, Sengoku was one of them so there should be two more)

And non of them were able to stop Roger from becoming Pirate King.

So yeah Roger was strong...he was very strong.
