It hasn't been that long.

Also remember manga time is different from real life time. 90% of people on this site cant understand that. We get 1 chapter per week so in some peoples minds Gai has been in 8th Gate release for 3 weeks but in actual manga time, since Sasuke and the Kages arrived its only been about 30-45 minutes.
