alternarate endings

When naruto ended a months back i remember seeing several post talking about a petition for kishi to change the ending of the manga mainly because of the pairings which i admit it doesnt interest me in the least.

Another example when How i met your mother show ended a lot of people also signed a petition for the finale to be changed because people didnt like the ending, the same happened with death note, since people didnt like what happened to light in the ending they started doing their own fanfic. A lot of mangas and series have released alternate endings because people didnt like the endings.

My questions here are when you dont like the ending of a story and the writters or fan make an alternate ending:
1.Do you feel satisfied when they change the ending?
2.Do you somehow try to pretend in your mind the first ending which you didnt like never happened at all?


Because in my humble opinion even if we end up having an alternate finale which would have been more pleasant, i still take the first and original ending as the original and true ending, no matter how much more i like the alternate ending of a story more than the first ending, i cannot switch places, the first ending for me will be the canon ending and even if the alternate ending are good i feel like they are a lame try to redeem for the screw up.
Though this only applies to stories, in videogames i enjoy the fact of getting more than one ending.

The only possible alternate ending that I can imagine is Sasuke dying and being redeemed at the moment of his death, it would be emotional and very different from typical shonen endings. But I don't like that much this alternate ending because Itachi's sacrifice would be wasted.

If you're going down that route.

Naruto and Co defeat her, things go blurry.

Hagoromo and his brother finally wake up along with Kaguya, now exhausted, drained of chakra, and finally defeated. The entire world of Naruto as we knew it was the battle between the two siblings and their mother within the first (and only real) Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Everything else was just a contest of willpower between both sides playing out upon the illusury stage set in motion by Kaguya.

Eh I suppose I would've liked to see the series end with a vision of hiw it would be if sasuke won and how it would be if Naruto won then a tie happens and we see ashura and indra speaking to Naruto and sasuke personally, telling them about the feud and what transpired, making Naruto and sasuke to get closure and they still have their arms and ashira and indra get some closure, Naruto still accomplishes his hokage dream and sasuke is out protecting the people of the world and preventing future kaguya uprisings and squashing them

The only possible alternate ending that I can imagine is Madara telling Sasuke to come closer and whisper in his ear saying, "When you're done here, travel to the far east. You will find a reason to live there. When you do, protect that reason with all your might! Family and friends come first no matter what!"

Sasuke travel to the far east and found a small village. A village of Uchiha and uzumaki clan living together.

Varies. Sometimes they really pulled an ending out of their ass, creating something that was really disjointed and/or didn't fit with the rest of the story. Even worse when it's not even a GOOD ending. Sometimes an ending that is a complete change in tone can be jarring in a good way. Other times it's just idiotic.

2.Do you somehow try to pretend in your mind the first ending which you didnt like never happened at all?
Again, depends. If it was obvious they didn't put the time, effort, or thought into the original ending they should have (or didn't have the right creative checks and balances in place)... then, should they release a much improved ending, I wouldn't have much reason to give the original ending much thought.

But that's all case by case. There's no one answer to it. I think in the case of Naruto, the ending itself wasn't really the problem. There were fundamental flaws with the entire last war arc. Whatever pairings Kishi went with wouldn't rustle my jimmies at all, it was never really central to the story of Naruto, so was more or less inconsequential no matter what way it went in the end.

I actually never followed any series that had its ending changed, but if it were to happen in theory:

1. That would indeed depend on the change in question, and

2. That would also depend, I would stick with whichever ending I liked more.

Maybe no Kaguya alien bullshit would've been better, more believable and could've left all sorts of meaningful messages as an ending with a much better chance for a feel trip or actual redemption. *Shrugs*
