First of all thank you for some personal insight and a well written statement.

I am not a great scholar - it is just that there is always this possibility to "legitimate" violence in the name of Islam. There are some "muslim" countries in which ppl are not that much indoctrinated with hatred - Morroco for instance or Bosnia or Russia.

But if you look at Pakistan, Iran, Saudi-Arabia and some other countries then you must see that there are some very crazy ppl with too much power.

In my opinion true justice can only be achieved if there is ONE LAW, which treats everybody equal regardless of gender and or religion. And in that regard the Sharia law has some really bad passages.

Some might argue if you dont agree with the Sharia Law you are no real Muslim...

I am a Christian Catholic but I don't agree with everything the Vatican says. I can say that gay people have the same rights as everybody else... ppl having aids may use condoms... I can differentiate between good and bad. And I believe in the teachings of Jesus. I mean it is impossible to behave like Jesus but in my opinion he is a great role model.

I completly agree with you, people tend to interpret the islamic litterature when they have no knowledge or methodology, and that is where extremism and terrorism comes from, ignorance and arrogance. but the same mistake is made by people who try to discredit islam by interpreting with no knowledge the islamic litterature, when only a scholar, who has specific caracteristics fixed by the scholar's community can interpret, for example he has to be well known for his integrity, he has to be well known for his mastery of the branch of islamic science he wants to make interpretations in, etc.

islamic scholars are not philosophers, they are jurists.
if only people knew the amount of work and study and knowledge you need to be alowed to say only one opinion or statement about islam, we wouldn't have all of these problems.

it is exactly as if someone with very little knowledge about physics begins to write books about it and give lectures ! the same !
you want to know something about physics you go and ask a specialist, you don't think and talk by your own.
