Sakura is a controversial character because unlike more characters her flaws are more definined and her positive action, are often outshined by those of her peers, however there is one thing that I need to explain.

There are two forms to Sakura's character, together they form Sakura as a whole.

This is the way Kishimoto created her, with these two sides.

the side that makes Sakura loved is the one that
-
1. defeated the zetsu
2. tried to stop naruto from going all tails
3. fought sasori
4. cheered on the alliance
5. healed the alliance
6. Formed the seal
7. defeated the rinnegan monser
8. mastered seal of a thousand strengths
9. mastered mitogenic regeneration
10. was brave enough to face Madara
11. kept naruto/shikamaru alive so they could be healed by others
12. brave enough to protect Sasuke from gaara
13. brave enough to protect Sasuke/naruto from the sound ninja
14. was kind to naruto after realizing she was being a jerk to him

the sakura that is hated is hated for
1. being a jerk to naruto by beating him many times even placing him into the hospital
2. beating a child leaving him lying in his own blood
3. betraying her teammates by drugging them/and attempting to manipulate Naruto's feeling by lying to him
4. not making a move to stop a murderer (twice) who would've sparked international war and led to hundreds of thousands of deaths.
5. opposing naruto's dream of becoming hokage by attempting to kill sasuke when naruto told her several times, "I can't become hokage until I save sasuke"
6. forgot to breath
7 couldn't read(she couldn't read minato's cloak
8. loves a guy who tried to kill her and her clan(to quote KOL, "that close to psychotic")
9. insulted tsunade
10. blindly charging madara being a burden to her team
11. did nothing while naruto and sasuke were fighting for their lives against hak
12. did nothing while naruto and sasuke were fighting for their lives against orichimaru
13. was a jerk to ino, and stopped their friendship, simply because ino liked sasuke, even though ino is the only reason why sakura is a ninja because ino stood up for her and inspired her to do big things.
14. ignored naruto who saved her life and immediantly called to sasuke while blushing. poor naruto
15. only cared about sasuke even though naruto pulled her away from limbo madara.

as you can see you have

1. the strong amazing and cool Sakura that does rather awesome things
then you got
2. the weak stupid, and cruel sakura that hurts her teammates and is a burden to others.

this is why their will always be haters for sakura because the haters only see person 2, and the lovers of sakura only see person 1

so this is why there is diversity between the fanbases, Sakura does great things but she also does stupid things.

of course there are lovers that see person 2 and love sakura more for it.
