All regios playable on laptop?

So yeah, because I have no idea where to find the answer, or where to place the question on this forum, I just put it here in the chatterbox :ghehe:
I was looking at an online site where they sell mangas, anime and related merchandise etc. Now there are a lot of dvds I'm interested in but of course they all have a regio. If I would use my regular dvd player I would have to pick regio 2 because that's the one playable in Europe. But most of the interesting anime aren't regio 2 :T_T:
So now was my question: does it matter which regio a dvd has if I want to play it on my laptop? Could I play regio 1 on it for example?
Or does it have to do with which kind of laptop you have? And if so, where could the information of the playable regios on my laptop?

Dvds are divided into different regios. I think there are seven or eight. Anyway depending on which regio the dvd has, it can only be played in a certain part of the world. For example, regio 2 is only playable in Europa. Regio 1 is for the USA and China if I remember correctly, and then you have a bunch of other regios, like for Japan, Russia etc. That's because the dvd players are not the same over the world. My dvd player at home for example can only play regio 2 because I live in Europe. I'm now wondering if that's the same for laptops or only for dvdplayers

I think you mean region. Regio is the latin word for region, but besides that isn't actually a word. Try googling it, or just try putting one of the dvds into your laptop. More than likely the laptop can play any dvd, and if it cant you can probably find plugins to make it able to.

^because those wouldn't be able to play on my regular dvd player because of the different regions. But I found a way to change the regions on my laptop So now I'll be able to watch those dvds when I buy them ^^
