Hajime no Ippo better bow down to Hunter x Hiatus because in 2040 that shit will still be ongoing.

Hajime No Ippo, is not the currently longest running manga Kochikame (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo) is the current longest running manga (since 1976) in shonen jump it has sold 191 volumes while Hajime no Ippo has sold 101 volumes .

Hajime no Ippo better bow down to Hunter x Hiatus because in 2040 that shit will still be ongoing.

LOL, Berserk might also be running till 2040 or might never finish too.:)

i guess people don't like sports

I don't think that it sports.

Plenty of sports mangas have achieved incredible popularity outside of Japan.

I think it's mainly because the anime didn't capture enough attention.

An anime can decide whether a manga sinks or swims.

It is a popular manga in japan, hence its longevity.
Also Slam Dunk is the 9th best selling manga of all times and it is about basketball pure and simple ( ).

If a manga is good it will sell, and for me sports mangas are much more interesting because being close to reality and inherent excitement of sports.

its actually the other way round. usually the manga has to sell a certain amount before an anime adaptation is even considered. few good anime get to skip this process.

Yes and no. While a good selling manga is more likely to get an anime rendition some lesser selling mangas get them too.

Meh......after chapter 700 or something it seems very slow paced and dragged.
I even read one chapter of just 7 pages with nothing but people cheering and the boxer going to land a punch. The punch didn't even landed till the next chapter.
