Boruto's eye definitely has a oro/mitsuki style in the panels where he has it activated.

Mitsuki is the moon as Boruto is the sun, so he probably sacrificed himself at some point then gave his eye to boruto. Probably during Boruto's first fight with Mitsuki, Boruto's eye gets slashed, he's about to lose, Sage Mode Mitsuki saves him but gets fatally wounded in the process, Sarada transplants eye into Boruto. Mitsuki sacrifices self to let Boruto and Sarada escape.

Then first pages of 1st chapter is where Boruto returns after going to the moon to train under Toneri.
