And yet the tree keeps the people alive.
to use as slaves....
Why?????
Couldn't the tree just quickly sap up all the chakra at once like Kisimaes Samehada and leave them to die?
Appearantly, all chakra is much more vast than what people have currently. Otherwise, the tree would suck all of it up and leave them to die.
Now that leads to my second point: Chakra trasmigration. In samsara, only a few get to reincarnate into a human again. Many become ghosts. This could be the case with chakra as well. Many people that die will have their chakra trapped in some other realm(hell realm, pure world, reapers belly etc).
The purpose of IT is to retrive all the chakra of not only everyone but also of everyone that died as well.
This makes sense, if we assume that chakra can not be created or destroyed, like mass and energy in physics. Then the charka of the fruit is fixed. All the people that didn't reincarate into the living realm would need to have their charka retrevied as well.
IT somehow forces people to retrieve all the chakra of their dead ancestors so to complete another fruit.
Maybe how it works is that in the dreams, all the dead loved ones are real. This would capture their image and hence make a connection to their chakra, and then make a connection to those dead ones loved ones chakra and so on.
So IT affects even those that are dead.
But is death really real though?

Well, he could mean that death is merely untrue and that the essensce and chakra are transfered elsewhere.
IT allows individuals to bring loved ones back into their dream world. This might make a connection to those loved ones chakra.
It might also put those loved ones under IT as well.
Rikudo was already good at making connections.
Kayuga, who had IT, and is mother of Hagaromo may be good at making connections as well. IT being the ultimate tech would go one step further beyond the connective abilities of Ninshuu and connect the living to the dead, and the dead to the dead... and so on until all charka from every person that ever existed is collected.
Being dead doesn't preclude one from genjutsu. i.e Tosuka Jar and Reaper Belly.
That is the only way to retrieve all Charka that ever existed.
Finally, why does IT give the user positive dreams? It could control the users through pain and fear. But it doesn't.
IT gives the user happy dreams because in these happy dreams, they think of their dead loved ones that they yourn for so much. This is just the pixilation the Tree needs to lock on to the dead's chakra.
