It is hard to say who is the strongest & the weakest of the Sannins. I think that the manga/story designed them to be all equal. It was just a matter of who Kishimoto decided to compliment first.
Early in the manga,@the time when Naruto was learning the Rasengan to be specific,all three Sannins were already introduced.
During this timeline ask yourself how would you rank them.
In my opinion, (strongest to weakest) 1.Orochimaru,2.)Jiraiya& 3.)Tsunade
I say this due to Orochimaru's early role in the manga.His achievements.
-Assasinated the 4th Kazekage
-Manipulating the Sand Village
-Kakashi in fear with his presence
-Powerful Shinobis under his command(w/curse mark)
-User of Edo Tensei
-Hiruzen Sarotobi states that he was a contender for the Hokage title
-Responsible for the death of Hiruzen Sarutobi the Third Hokage
-Able to hold his ground againts Jiraiya&Tsunade without the aid of Ninjutsu
-Was a former Member of the Akatsuki
-Trained Sasuke who was very impressive @ his Shippuden debut
-Surviving his battle with Naruto under the influence of the 9 tails
He was pretty much in my opinion the strongest of the Sannin for a long while.*
Then in just a few chapters, my opinion on their ranking changed again.
This was from the introduction of Nagato,Konan&Yahiko as Jiraiya's students to after Nagato's death. His battle with the Six Paths of Pain pushed him NUMBER 1 in my personal ranking.*
Just to make things clear before I explain how I pushed him above Orochimaru," I AM NOT TAKING AWAY CREDIT FROM NAGATO RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS DEATH & ALSO TO NARUTO WHO DEAFETED NAGATO.
-In his fight with Nagato, Jiraiya showed me(hopefully us) how powerful of a shinobi he was. Reaveling the capabilities of the Sage Art, managing to eliminate a few of the Six Paths,and more importantly in my opinion,to have the presence of mind while in the verge of death to transport intel about the Rinnegan's capabilities. I strongly believe that Naruto would have not be able to accomplish deafeting Nagato without the provided intel.*
Would you agree in my opinion that Naruto @ his state during this timeline would have not done any better than Jiraiya? I say this because of the fact that Jiraiya was able to eliminate a few of the Paths coming into battle without intel about the opponent's abilities. He unveiled details
about the Six Path's SHARED VISION ability and a few other details while under the pressure of battle.Jiraiya's intel *gave Naruto knowledge on how to effectively approach/attack the Paths.*
Now *ask yourself again,would have Jiraiya have a chance deafeting Pain if he had the intel Naruto had @ the beggining of their battle??Would he have had a better chance of winning the battle if he eliminated the Six Paths in the right order??
Some of you might say NO,&some of you might say yes.
I have to add that during Nagato's attack on the Hidden Leaf, seeing how most shinobis(or should I say all?)were inferior & deafeted by the Paths,this sight just makes you think of how Jiraiya managed to fight such a powerful foe.
Last and not the least,Lady Tsunade. Seriously,who would have thought after such a slow start, Lady Tsunade was capable of damaging Susanoo with her fist?? And by the way,it was Uchiha Madara's Susanoo. She then recieves compliments from Uchiha Madara,&Onoki stating her to be stronger than the current Raikage,A.
Before the mentioned achievements,I remember Tsunade as Kabuto's punching bag,a medic ninja who has fear for blood, the Hokage who was commatose after her village was attacked,& a gambler. And now we see her representing 1 of the Kage titles as they **
fight one of the most power shinobis in their history.
Her recent achievements made me question myself about Jiraiya's seat @ number 1,which puts Orochimaru @ the bottom of the ladder.
And now you ask why does the title of the thread say " ALL 3 SANNINS ARE EQUAL" when Tsunade dropped Orochimaru @ the last spot???
"Kabuto Yakushi"
His major role in the Shinobi World War(Edo Tensei),& his Sage Art reflects and compliments Orochimaru. Ask yourself,was it just a matter of time that Orochimaru would have the same abilities as the present Kabuto have?? In my opinion,yes. Since Kabuto is following on Orochimaru's footsteps& took on Orochimaru's unfinished goals. Do you think that Orochimaru's experience&knowledge would have a different outcome than of Kabuto in the Shinobi World War??
