It most certainly would, Yubel! The primitive extraterrestrials might provide products/proteins that would benefit human and animal life on Earth, whilst intelligent extraterrestrials might give us advice on scientific exploits, or even trade with us. Imagine new industries with extraterrestrial products. Economies would boom! Just even exploring planets that we (at that time) know harbor extraterrestrial life would give us insight on how life can bloom and the prerequisites needed for 'other' life to exist.

if we encounter intelligent life forms I'm certain they wouldn't wanna be friends with us. Look at our history. When humans discovered new people they didn't come all the way to be friends, unless the Aliens either ignore us or have diffirent values from us.

OP: I'm certain there is alien life somewhere. The universe is large beyond our comprehension and there are lots of planets. One of them is bound to have life forms. Maybe even Europa has an underwater sea.
The real question we should be asking is: why do we give a shit if there are aliens or not?

It will not improve our lives here on earth in anyway shape or form.
People care wether or not there are alien forms because people want to learn about more about the Universe and answer some of the mysteries we face. Is discovering alien life gonna revolutinize the planet? of course not, but imo its good for us to discover and learn more about the cosmos.

Yeah... you only think and care about yourself huh?
That's not accurate, I care about my family and friends but that's where it ends. Unless there is something to gain from there being aliens(which considering the vast universe is very likely they exist), I'm not the least bit interested and get annoyed when people talk about it for no other reason than to prove we're not alone in the universe which really doesn't mean anything.

To gain you've to give something in return it's only because we want to gain without giving create lot of problems in our society for example we gain lot of things from nature and use them like it's ours alone but how many of us give enough for what we gains ?

@ bold

i don't know what make you think this but why can't a person be curious about things ?

By all means, be curious. My point is merely that life is short and aliens are a misplacement of our priorities.

So if there is no clear reason to search for an alien lifeform, we should ignore it and focus on what actually matters.

That's just speculation combined with a fantasy of how you would like it to be. Get real, assuming intelligent life even exists you really think it'd allow you to use their primitive kind as a protein source? And how do you know their economy if they have one would be like ours? And I'm sure whatever benefit you receive will be equal to what you lose in the process.

This guy XD

It doesn't matter if looking for aliens won't benefit our society. Its about discovering the truth about the secrets the universe holds. That is literally what scientists do on a daily basis, try to understand the universe. This might one day include discovering alien life. Are the top scientists in the world wasting their time on a daily basis? Because by saying discovering alien life is pointless is saying that exact thing.

Not only that, but friendly communication with equally or more advanced civilizations will ultimately lead to advancements in our own technology. In short, you're wrong on multiple accounts. Advancing scientific knowledge and exploring outside of our planet goes hand in hand with alien discovery. Theoretical contact with alien life could advance our technology greatly.

I find it a bit hard to give a shit about the universe when we can't even take care of ourselves here on earth.
