Akatsuki's Day Off (Chapter 4)
Meanwhile, with Kisame and Itachi...
Kisame: Just as emotionless as ever, I see.
Itachi: … Perhaps.
Itachi notices a building along their path.
Itachi: There's a cafe. We can stop there and rest for a time.
Kisame: Okay, let's enter. I'm hungry so this will be great.
Attendant comes over. She's a cheerful woman with blue eyes and beach-blonde hair. Wearing heals and the standard bland uniform. Her beaming smile makes up for it. One can notice a faint blush as she looks in the duo's direction.
Attendant: Hello! How can we serve you at our establishment, this fine day?
Itachi: Just some rice and later dango for me. Plus a glass of water.
Attendant: Wonderful!
Attendant turns to face Kisame.
Attendant: So, sir... or fish? I apologize for the disrespect. Regardless, what would you like to have?
Kisame: Shrimp and crab.
Attendant: Alrightyy-then.
The woman turns toward Itachi and for some odd reason her blush intensifies.
Attendant: It can be free for you.
Itachi: ?
Itachi: No, I prefer to pay. It's only fair that way.
Her face becomes a deep red, primarily from embarrassment.
Attendant: Oh. Hm. Well, that's cool too. We'll have your food ready in a few minutes.
She walks hurriedly away.
Kisame: What was that all about?
Itachi: I didn't understand it either. No matter.
Kisame: Yeah, you have that effect on some women. Guess I don't since I'm a fish... like she said.
Kisame looks down in a shameful manner.
Itachi: Why does it matter?
Kisame: Yeah, so you say.
Itachi: Last time I checked, romance wasn't relevant when it came to carrying out a shinobi's duty. It's not important to any person in the organization now. Let's drop it.
Kisame: Okay.
Itachi: Pein mentioned the Jins. We're supposedly going to begin operations concerning them later this year.
Kisame: So, we should hurry and capture yours, don't you think? Since it's the most powerful target.
Itachi's expression grows somewhat stern, but yet relaxed enough to seem calm as usual.
Itachi: No. We shouldn't think of capturing Naruto. The Kyuubi can be saved for last. After all, it's only preferable that tailed beasts be sealed within the statue in order. We have plenty of time. No rush and Pein can't do a thing. Deidara even missed his target before when it was due the last time.
Kisame: Hm. When you put it that way, I guess it makes sense. Might as well relax like you said.
Attendant comes over hesitantly.
Attendant: Here's your food, gentleman. And the bill.
Itachi takes a decent amount of bills out of an inner cloak pocket.
Itachi: Here. Keep the extra bills.
Attendant: Thank you! Please come again any time you feel like it.
The attendant walks away smiling and with a spring in her step.
Kisame: Hehe. Kakuzu's going to throw a fit if he hears you let that women keep the extra cash.
Itachi: She might leave me alone this way. As for Kakuzu, that's irrelevant. The money I just spent wasn't even earned by him. I was the only one at yesterday's meeting to refrain from taking that money he allocated to each of us. It's my own.
Kisame: Interesting. These past few years I've been earning money as well by taking on missions for different factions.
Itachi: Looks like we'll be keeping up with Akatsuki again now. Let's discuss a few plans that they have for all of us.
The two men continued talking in the cafe and stayed there for quite a while. Discussing the possible success of the organization. They enjoyed their meals as well. This pair was the only one in Akatsuki that had a mutual respect for both each others character and power. Something typically unheard of in their group.
