Kisame on the Defensive.

To start off, knowing Gaara's fighting style this match-up won't indclude any close-range combat as Gaara will most likely going to fly away. Of course, Kisame having knowledge on Gaara's capabilities thanks to both the Akatsuki and Deidara, will immediately [ ] into an ocean-like area. His following actions shall be forming and merging with his Samehada, being ready for the big fight. Gaara, on the other hand, would most likely try to collect sand and then the big fight shall start.

First off, we'll have to acknowledge the fact that Gaara's sand is not fast as it has been shown that multiple characters had no trouble avoiding it. This has been shown in his battle against Kimimaro [ ], Madara [ ] and Deidara. [ ][ ] Knowing , he shouldn't have problems escaping any of Gaara's attacks just like Gaara's previous opponents did. More so, Kisame's level of water and fighting style will force Gaara to constantly keep his sand underwater in order to fight Kisame which would result in the sand slowly turning more and more into harmless mud and becoming more slower. Of course, it won't be affected instantly as seen when he released his sand in Mei's Suiton, but it eventually will become harmless mud knowing how sand gets when it's underwater for too long and especially under so much water. To make things worse, Kisame's Water Dome absorbs Chakra to the point where Kisame was confident enough that it can suck dry even someone who is a Perfect Jinchuuriki. Gaara doesn't have that much Chakra.

You must be registered for see images

This means that absolutely every sand that enters Kisame's Water Dome would get it's Chakra sucked up and transfered to Kisame without Kisame ever getting into contact with the sand. This will not only feed Kisame through the whole fight since Gaara would need to constantly keep his sand underwater and control it with Chakra, constantly adding huge quantity of Chakra into the sand in order to be capable of maintaining his sand. This will; Feed Kisame and keep him fueled the whole fight even if he has so much Chakra without sucking up Gaara's own, make Gaara's movements with the sand slower and lastly, force Gaara to keep on adding huge amounts of Chakra which would eventually suck him up dry. And there's more. When merged with Samehada Kisame is a sensor which completely nullifies the possibilty of Gaara pulling off some kind of a side or sneak attack.

In case Kisame , it won't be much of a problem really. There are multiple ways in which he can escape this scenario and lets start with the most obvious one; Absorption. Samehada's best absorption feat is when it ripped off and in a matter of seconds which happens to be six Bijuu tails worth of Chakra. It even resulted in on how good Samehada's absorption is. Earlier in that fight, Samehada even managed to [ ] in a blink of an eye like literally. Considering that Kisame's absorption would be better when merged with Samehada, absorbing the sand that makes contact with Kisame won't be much of a trouble at all as Kisame has absorbed Bee's Bijuu Chakra extremely quickly and sand doesn't have so much Chakra in it.

Now, lets move on. I have mentioned that Kisame has more than one way of countering if the sand somehow manages to get on him, am I correct? That's why the next point I shall be arguing is Samehada's hardness and Kisame's strength. How does this help him escape? It's simple really. Kimimaro managed to escape a Sand Dome and he did so . And even after Gaara used his sand to crush him, it didn't have much of an effect on Kimimaro. This is exactly how Kisame can escape as well. After-all, unlike Kimimaro, Kisame has unnatural strength as that was restraining both him and his Chakra even after he was got hit directly by the Hirudora and knocked unconscious by Gai. A fully rested Kisame will have absolutely no problems breaking through Gaara's sand that is restraining him and escaping much like Kimimaro did. And keep in mind that Samehada will also be absorbing the sand at the same time, either completely absorbing it or at least making it much weaker. Kisame was even strong enough to break through a hill made out of solid rock and Gai even stated that Kisame had .

In those same very scan, we can see the durability of Samehada which is the second part of the point I'm arguing. As you can see, it had absolutely no troubles crushing through solid rock and later, it even blocked an attack from a huge metal axe. [ ][ ] With this, we can easily come to the conclusion that whatever Samehada is made out of is as hard or perhaps even harder than steel, the same very thing Kimimaro's bones are as hard as. Durability along with his strength is what helped Kimimaro escape and considering that once Kisame merges with Samehada, he shall gain it's durability and have a body that will be as hard as steel. In the end, even if he recieves some damage, Samehada shall heal him.

And now, one of the last point I shall be arguing in Kisame's defense against Gaara's techniques are his one-thousand sharks. Yes, you heard me right. How can the 1000 sharks, an offensive move, be used as a defense? It's rather simple. Kisame literally summons just as the name of the technique suggests. After he has summoned them into his water dome, the sharks shall spread out to all sides and Kisame who looks like a shark after merging with Samehada will blend in with them. Thousands of Sharks will flood his water dome and swim around quickly, leaving Gaara extremely confused. He won't be capable of pin-pointing Kisame anymore as he would blend in with the sharks and finding him in such depth will be impossible without sensory abilities. Kisame, on the other hand, has those sensory capabilities and will always know Gaara's location. Basically, the end result shall be this;

You must be registered for see images

Gaara will have absolutely no idea where to aim his attacks and every last one of his attacks would just result in his Chakra being sucked up by the Water Dome. He would have no other choice, but to use the Sand Tsunami which would force him to send Chakra to the ground, allowing Kisame to create and send out clones who will effectively keep on absorbing that very same Chakra. After-all, the clones themselves will gain their own Samehada as well and will be capable of absorption as explained here;

AkatsukiChurch said:
The Water Clones are capable of being able to wield their own copy of Samehada and they can use Kisame's techniques. [ ][ ][ ]

You must be registered for see images

You may say that the Water Clones can't wield a copy of Samehada, but that isn't true. Samehada can indeed be copied since we have seen that Kisame's clone which has been sent out to fight Team Gai had a copy of Samehada.

Swords with special abilities can indeed be copied. [ ][ ]

The clones shall effectively absorb any Chakra Gaara sends out as I stated, however if he by some chance manages to produce a Sand Tsunami, this is where the Great Shark Bullet comes into play as it's basically . However, Kisame's GSB is much superior due to it's abilities. It absorbs Chakra and it grows bigger and stronger. Not only will this absorb Gaara's Sand Tsunami since as Kisame said, the stronger the enemy's jutsu is the stronger GSB gets and works better, it will also pose a threat to Gaara as it will reach out to him in the sky either forcing him to get away as far as he can or getting caught in it.

Kisame on the Offensive.

You must be registered for see images

There isn't much that I want to state here since I covered pretty much everything in the above section, but I might as well add a few things like these. Considering that Gaara usually stays stationary while fighting, Kisame can easily trick him when forming the Dome as Gaara has no idea that Kisame can form a Dome out of the water he released from his mouths nor does he have any knowledge on the size of the Dome and since the Dome forms pretty much instantly, Gaara shall be caught in it.

You must be registered for see images

-> First panel: Kisame spits out the water.
-> Second panel: The bubble forms and takes the ground away from Bee and his companions.

The bubble formed exactly in a panel. Gaara won't even try to escape it considering that he has absolutely no knowledge on it and that it forms so quickly. He couldn't even escape it in one panel worth of time considering how huge the bubble is. He simply wouldn't have enough time to get out of it's range. It . Keep on looking at the scans of Bee's fight with Kisame inside of the Dome. You can always see the mountains in the background, proving how huge the Dome really is. Once Gaara gets trapped inside of the Dome, he will be overwhelmed by Kisame's speed and either get sucked dry or drowned. In the end, even if this fails, it will only prolong the battle as Kisame will keep on absorbing Gaara's Chakra until Gaara drops dead and Kisame will not tire, but only get stronger as stated by himself. The end result shall be this;

After Kisame performed Water Dome, Gaara could just as easily avoid it by flying. Gaara's height limit is unknown, but it seems limitless as he can . He was the key factor for , in . It takes no more than a second for him to fly atop his sand.

While Gaara is in the air, he can watch Kisame with third eye. So he's attacking Kisame, and avoiding most of his ninjutsu.

Not all of Gaara sand contains chakra. The sand he makes himself is just normal, although he can mix his chakra with it if he wants to. This is usually when he is performing Sand Burial. Only Gaara's "Special Sand" contains chakra. His Special Sand is sand that is already mixed with a large amount of his own chakra. That is his real absolute defence. It's fast enough to counter Amaterasu, one of the fastest eye ninjutsu in the manga. Only Ay and Gaara have been shown able to block it.

Gaara's sand has never been shown getting absorbed. Plus, Samehada has only been shown absorbing chakra. It was even stated that Samehada only aborbs chakra. Bee's cloak was purely Hachibi chakra. Not many of Gaara's attacks are even chakra based, many are just purely sand.

Samehada is very durable, although Gaara's Special Sand is even more durable. Gaara used his SS to block both of Madara's meteors when they cam crashing down and that was after fighting the 4th Kazekage and 2nd Mizukage. Not to mention he barely had a scratch on him after taking the hit.

Kisame needs water to use his 100 Sharks technique, so because Gaara can fly higher than the barrier, Kisame would have to resort to Suiton. Suiton is performed in mere seconds, but Sand Tsunami is just as fast and effective to the land scape.

Becasue all of Kisame territory changin ninjutsu is rendered useless, merging with Samehada is out of the question, as we've only seen him merge with Samehada under water.

So now it's Base Kisame vs Gaara.

Yamato's Mokuton cannot be compared to Hashi's at all. Yamato's Mokuton was easily broken by beginner Sasuke. So the feat is impressive, but not as impressive as it sounds.

Because Gaara rarely even has to use chakra, Samehada isn't growing much bigger unless Kisame feeds it his own chakra. If he resorts to that, it makes all the more easier for Gaara to defeat him.

If Gaara's SS can tank two meteors, than it now crushes a person's body easier then he makes it seem. Kimimaru survied jonin/kid Gaara by . In the end it still resulted in most of his bones being shattered by kid Gaara. Gaara is on a completely different level now, his sand is strong enough to crush Kisame's body.

He can fly out of the range if needed, of course. I won't deny that, however that is IF he has intel on Water Dome, which he doesn't have. Gaara usually keeps lower to the ground and closer to the enemy. This was already shown in all of his part 1 battles where he kept himself on the ground despite being capable of flight. The only time he chose to fly is when Kimimaro used his Bone Forest. Even in his battle against Madara in part 2, rather than fly up so that the Susano'os can't reach him and in his as well. The only time he actually flied up really high to fight his enemy was and that was just because Deidara was a flying enemy and he wanted to . Even against Sasuke , Gaara didn't fly but rather chose to .

Same thing will happen here. Since Gaara has absolutely no intel on the Water Dome, he won't expect it to and trap him inside of it. Even if he has shown to be capable of escaping Kimimaro's Bones so quickly, it's slower than the forming of the Water Dome and he most likely saw the bones coming, had the sand under his feet so he was capable of quickly escaping. After-all, it has already been shown multiple times that Gaara doesn't deal well with surprise attacks as seen when he wasn't capable of flying away from Madara's Susano'o which knocked them down nor did he react to the Susano'o Sword. Even in his battle against Lee and Sasuke, he was constantly being punched around while being unable to react. With no knowledge on the Water Dome which takes like a panel to form and , Gaara will be caught in it which results in him being overwhelmed by Kisame's speed and killed.

The Third Eye is an useful technique, I suppose. However, the fact that Gaara controls it with Chakra will result in Kisame sensing the Third Eye and taking it out with a Suiton such as . Not that it matters since Kisame will be deep in the Water Dome and Gaara won't have a clear image of where Kisame is at all considering that Killer Bee and Hachibi couldn't see a thing while being in Kisame's Water Dome. Seeing Kisame would be an impossible task once Kisame summons his one thousand Sharks in the Water Dome, completely hiding himself.

It appears you misunderstood me when I said that Gaara's Sand can be absorbed. The Sand itself cannot be absorbed yes, but in order for Gaara to control or move that sand at all he has to use his Chakra. He sends the Chakra into the sand and moves it around. Kisame won't absorb the sand itself, he will absorb the Gaara's Chakra used for moving the sand, meaning that particular sand won't be usable anymore. After-all, it has already been shown that the Chakra being used to manipulate the sand has been absorbed when Madara absorbed both the Chakra in the sand, , turning it into harmless and useless sand, and Naruto's Rasenshuriken . Later, in that very same fight, Madara was about to absorb Gaara's Chakra used to manipulate the sand, but was unable to do so because of the Raiton around it which would have paralyzed him despite being an Edo Tensei.

You must be registered for see images

Samehada will happily absorb the Chakra used to manipulate the sand. Anyways, it seems your confusing Enton with Amaterasu. The latter is much, much faster than the former since the Enton actually travels while the Amaterasu just appears on it's target. What Sasuke used against Gaara and he even stated it himself .

Of course, Gaara's Sand has better tanking feats than Kisame's Samehada, but tanking doesn't equal crushing force. Gaara's Sand won't be capable of crushing Kisame with his Sand due to Kisame's Strength and Samehada's durability which is indeed comparable to Kimimaro's bones as I explained in my previous post. Just like Kimimaro, Kisame will use those two factors to escape the sand's grasp. Well, that is if the sand every manages to catch him considering that it has already been shown that Kisame is extremely fast underwater and that Gaara's sand can be avoided by speed rather easily. Anyways, the meteor point isn't that good of an example really considering that Gaara only helped against the first meteor which's weigth . Gaara surviving that isn't much of a feat either considering that Ohnoki who was managed to survive it without . He only had a wound under his eye which was bleeding.

Moving on, Kisame needs water to use the one thousand Sharks of course and that water is the Water Dome. No matter what Gaara does, he can't get rid of it considering that unlike his Sand Tsunami, the Water Dome is bigger than the mountains. Even if Gaara manages to create a Sand Tsunami if Kisame's clones which he sent out don't absorb the Chakra sent to the ground then all the Tsunami would do is enter the Water Dome and not change the battlefield. After-all, like I said, the Water Dome is much, much bigger. Anyways, that Sand Tsunami will be countered by the GSB which will absorb all of the Chakra used to manipulate it and become bigger and stronger. The stronger the Sand Tsunami is, the better will GSB work.

of course, Kisame crushing the Mokuton isn't that much of an impressive feat, but the fact is that he was severly wounded in battle before and still managed to do it. Sasuke most likely used Chidori to escape it since he hasn't shown strength that would allow him to do it considering that Kabuto needed the Chakra Scalpel to crush a smaller Mokuton created by Yamato. Anyways, it's has already been stated that Kisame has superhuman strength. He is surely stronger than Kimimaro and just like Kimimaro's bone masks, Samehada's durability will protect Kisame. Gaara's crushing force hasn't changed because he still uses Sand. He cannot change it by becoming more experienced. The only difference between part 1 and 2 Gaara are the facts that part 2 Gaara is more intelligent, better at controlling the sand and can control more sand. The crushing force hasn't changed.

I already explained that Gaara's Chakra used for manipulating the sand can be absorbed and to add more, Samehada will most likely absorb that Chakra before it even touches Kisame. As seen, Samehada's absorption has a range that allows it to absorb Chakra without her making actual contact with it. This happened in Bee's fight against Kisame. Killer B is a close range fighter no matter how you look at it. The Water Dome does spread rather quickly, but Gaara always keeps himself . Gaara would be able to tell that Kisame is a close range fighter, judging from the fact that he has weilds a sword. Gaara has shown excellent tactician feats lately, by . Gaara would stay away from Kisame, and block his attacks with his sand. P1 Gaara was much slower than Current Gaara. P1 Gaara rarely moved in the midst of battle, while Current Gaara is much . The fact that Onoki isn't flying himself just expresses the fact that they weren't at full power. Kisame would be forced to undo the Water Dome, as it would prove to be unaffective. With the Water Dome down, Gaara cold take the advantage and use Sand Tsunami. Kisame wouldn't have the time to react, as it takes time for him to extract from Samehada. That time would go to Gaara using Sand Tsunami. Kisame would be most vulnerable at that time, the perfect opening for Gaara. Judging from the fact that Kisame transformed almost immedeatly after shutting down the Dome, he can't stay in that form for long in open air. Gaara could perform burial right after activating Sand Tsunami. Although it wouldn't kill Kisame, Kisame would still come out badly injured.

With Sand Tsunami activated, it's Gaara's playing field now. This would hold no factor, as Gaara could slowly wear Kisame down. With Sand Tsunami, that is made impossible. Unless Kisame wants to be stuck or more, he wouldn't do that.

If Kisame was to perform , Gaara could just do another . With Gaara forcing Kisame to use long range suiton, he could just wait for the perfect moment to seal Kisame. GG Kisame xD
