It's really interesting when you think about how Akatsuki members ended up being similar but their world views being COMPLETELY different to their partners. Its almost like a twisted yin-yang philosophy in relation to their beliefs and how those beliefs allowed them to work together / dislike one another.

Itachi / Kisame - Both were infamous for slaying comrades - Justifications and beliefs behind it were different.

Sasori / Deidara - Both believed perfecting art / creativity was the essence of life - Philosophy of art's representation was completely different.

Hidan / Kakuza - Both accepted and embraced how evil the world truly was and relished in killing - One did it for financial gain. Other did it for religious purposes.

Tobi / Zetsu - Both agreed on the same plan - Both had different ideas on outcome

It’s true. I think that’s what made them such memorable and well received villains as a whole....

....I wonder if Kara will hold up as well in comparison.

At least the first 2 pairs are similar.

Sasori and Deidara were both domestic terrorist, Itachi and Kisame were both spies under the direct boss Tobi, and Pain and Konan was for yahiko peace.

More similarities/ Conflicts

Itachi/Kisame- Both had different ideas of camaraderie, yet became comrades.
Itachi was loyal but lied, Kisame was from the blood mist and wanted truth.
Also, in a way, they were both what they hated most.

Deidara and Sasori also represented a difference in age and how that affects the perspective on life. In addition to this, Sasori and Deidaras differing philosophies may have been due to the fact one was immortal (and could appreciate his art forever) and the other was mortal (and wanted his art to be beautiful in the moment.) This could also represent an ideology of living in the present vs. living in the past and future.

Pain and Konan represented life and death. Pain was a dead body, and Konan took the appearance of an angel. She also frequently made flowers, and used organic weaponry (paper) while pain used otherworldly, inorganic materials, and his summons (if in compliance with the rules of rinnegan, AND the mythology they come from) are also dead. This combination can represent the unity of life and death, beauty and pain.

Kakuzu and Hidan represented more than just immortality and bloodlust. They represented humanity and its worst aspects. When granted with eternal life, they chose humanities biggest sources of conflict: Religion and money. They represent the "roots of all evil", and they represent the biggest failure possible. Living forever and still valuing money over life, to literally have everything and want more. Hidan had the opportunity to appreciate life more than anyone else, since he has it forever, yet only wants to take it from others, to satisfy his own personal views.

Tobi and Zetsu represent something a little different. They are a representation of Itachis "Reality vs Illusions" speech. Obito believes he is the mastermind behind a world saving solution, and that he is the savior. He is actually trying to bring the apocalypse, and does not know it. Zetsu LIES and says he is helping save the world with Obito, but is actually bringing the apocalypse. All the while, Obito was manipulating the world through shadows, confident in every move he made. He thought he knew everything, but everything he was trying to do, in every aspect, was a total lie, and he knew nothing. He was trapped by his own perspective, and Black zetsu represents the trap that Itachi spoke of. Black Zetsu is the limit on truth and reality, the illusion, and the puppeteer behind the corruption.

Almost every pairing besides pein & konan was extrovert/introvert. Though I would've like to see similar ideologies and personalities team up together. Makes for more fun & excitement. Ie) tobi & deidara. Maybe deidara & hidan, sasori & kakuzu, Itachi & Konan, Hidan & Tobi, etc.

Very nice analysis. Love it especially Tobi and Zetsu's "Reality vs Illusion".

As for Hidan / Kakuza I stated: Hidan / Kakuza - Both accepted and embraced how evil the world truly was and relished in killing.
