The Akatsuki were all powerful!!! Hidan wasn't that good to me but his concept was amazing!
Kakuzu - Took on like six Konoha shinobi.
Deidara - Invaded Sunagakure like a boss and defeated their Kazakage. Captured Ibosu
Kisame - Defeated Roshi and captured Son Goku alone. Could have killed Bee and captured him. Fought off a lot of shinobi without Samehada and wore down Guy.
Sasori -Defeated the Kazekage. Took out a country. Easily defeated Kankuro.
Konan - Was on some Moses shit with paper tag bombs.
Pain - You already know.
Itachi - Former Solo King
Zetsu - Can't get rid of his ass.

Half of them are not all that strong but its not like they were killed by regular weak Shinobi, It took alot to put some of them down. =D
Yeah, some are just taken to the next level by fanboys. It did take alot to kill them though. So, like I said before, they aren't weak, most are just overrated.
