Poor charectarization? Exactly the opposite. Fanservice? Not an Ecchi manga. The amount of it is small. Anime? It's not even an anime yet.

Though, I'm not even sure if you read it.

Think of the human minds aptitude for corruption. Think of all the corruption we know of in the world right now. Then put it in manga form with characters that are well developed. Then you have Akame Ga Kill. One of the greatest manga I have ever read and probably always will be. It is very easy to get attached to characters because of how realistic they are in scale and scope. Pedophilia, murder, corruption etc. They are all represented in this manga. It literally feels like a mirroring of real world problems just on paper with manga characters.

The fights are fantastic with tactics and innovative powers, and unlike Naruto or One Piece, there is no such thing as "asspulls" in this manga. The clearly superior fighter (whether it be in power or intelligence) will ALWAYS win. Another thing unlike OP and Naruto; the good guys have an equal chance of dying as the bad guys, rather than the whole "oh he/she is a main character etc. etc.". Yea, no. Many things happen in this manga that are completely unexpected. You may think you have something figured out (like how a character initially is but they turn out to be completely different) but then the manga will turn it around on you.

The diversity of characters are extravagant. Sadistic characters, happy characters, psychotic characters, overly serious characters, Tsundere's, Yandere's etc. So much diversity in characterization and the development of the characters. You'll most certainly find your favorite character quickly as they have a lot going for them. Generally, people judge the manga on the first chapter because there is a grand total of 80 pages which gives general knowledge and a good feel overall for this manga.

And on a side note; this manga is getting an anime very soon. Quite a testament to its quality.
