Yeah, you should start reading. First season won't cover that much epic stuff anyways so it's better to start reading and then watch the anime.

I started watching the anime and i couldnt even dare to look at the manga. Im currently waiting for the new season while everybody knows what happens to mikasa, and eren (characters). So its a win loss situations. If you decide to watch the anime dont read the manga. But if you read the manga definately watch the anime.

Two consecutive seasons? Nah. If you are talking about the post in which was said that the anime will be going on for two seasons, the ''two seasons'' meant Summer and Fall which means that first season will be 24-26 episodes long so it'll probably cover all up to the end of Jaegers arc.

It's unknown when the second season will be released (obviously) though, but that'll probably cover Borick and Wild Hunt arc.​
