Akainu did NOT have a DF advantage over Aokiji.

I managed to watch a little of One Piece Movie Z online, and in it at one point a volcano erupts, sending lava and magma pouring down into a village. And on two occasions Aokiji pops up, and in order to save civilians from the incoming lava/magma, instantly flash-freezes practically all of the magma coming in. And it sure is a hell of a lot of magma he freezes.

So no, Akainu did not have a DF advantage. Akainu can easily melt his ice (as we saw in MF when he vaporized the glacier Jozu threw), and Aokiji can easily freeze magma/lava (as I saw in the movie). So it was an even fight, and Akainu ended out on top.

They fought for 10 days non stop. If there was already an elemental advantage for one of the two, I would say it was barely worth taking even into account.

It makes sense because even though Akainu's magma melts Aokiji's ice, Aokiji's ice could also solidify Akainu's magma I guess

you see when top fighters like Sakazuki and Kuzan fought each other, DF advantage don't really mean anything it was their endurance and battle experience/intelligence that take role to decide the victor

When Ace and Aokiji clashed in the war Ace melted Aokijis move rather quickly but then with Akainu got overpowered and burned himself.
That tells you Ace's devil fruit in nature was above Aokijis and Akainu's devil fruit was above Aokiji's.

Basically it's like this: Magma>Fire>Ice.

It was the same reason Luffy was able to beat Enel because his df's nature helped him in a long way, of course other things came into play but Akainu had a major advantage going into this fight as he can pretty much melt anything Aokiji throws at him.

In the movie (overseen by Oda), Aokiji casually flash-freezes a ton of magma. Like, a village-level landslide of magma.

That proves nothing, if anything it means that Ao Kiji has much better devil fruit control then Akainu who seems more like a brute power guy.

The nature of a devil fruit always played a role in battles like, rubber and lightning, water and sand, flour and syrup, fire and smoke, fire and magma, fire and ice so don't think that ice and magma would be an exception.

Ao kiji holding off Akainu for 10 days with a disadvantage like this is epic in it's own way and he probably would've won against any other opponent.
