Renji got way stronger but I don't think that Aizen would be "back" already. He just trained to match him. He probably still isn't done with training. 17 months wont cut it.

Even if he is going to return to the story soon, doing it now is just straight up stupid. Do you really want to see another dance with Aizen so soon after we finally got rid of him? No. We need new villains.

Renji says to be able to fight Aizen. It means he's training to be as powerful as him. Nothing more.

Well, he meant that they have been training so that they can be on par with Aizen.

This time skip in Bleach was actually good, now that I really think about it. Now Ichigo isn't going to be the above and beyond strongest Shinigami, the other's will now be on par with Ichigo (to a certain extent). But much like OP, I think this arc is just to show how much stronger the characters have become in the time skip, show some of their abilities (possibly a bankai for Rukia?), and to restore Ichigo's powers.

That may be ture he did still hav the hogyoku in him and might hav waiting for a opportunity to escape or his powers need to recharge some how after the fight with ichigo (he also was the 2nd strongest shinigami/Hollow Being i don't think the seal could hold him for long) But also Renji may hav been comparing his self to him.Well we still don't know we will just hav to wait and find out

Whether or not Aizen comes back doesn't matter right now. It's a brand new arc with a whole new enemy. Personally I don't want Aizen back right now. We need a breathe of fresh air with a whole new antagonist
