Could you listen to anime openings, or watch anime for that matter, as if they were your everyday american music/shows?

One time I was watching Naruto in class. Thought my classmates would have a heart attack, they were so suprised. Apparently I don't seem like the type to watch "that kind of stuff".

You guys have any experiences like this?

My animes usually come out when I don't have any class so no. But my friends know that I watch anime they don't care

More then like Half of my friends in school watched digimon (as weird as that sounds) dbz and yes, Pokemon.

Other then that most of my Rl friends watch anime .-.

Yeah, my classmates think anime can be compared to your everyday child cartoon. There's this one girl that keeps telling me I should stop watching cartoons. :l

Oh I gotta add on after seeing the last post that I'm embarrassed to be in them anime stores down here cuz it's full of 30-40 year old men playin with them Yugioh cards and having these weird discussions. They support that stereotype that anime is for weird niggas n shit. When I was buying a K On DVD a grown lady started fangirlin about how it was her fav series and gave me this creepy smile. I was kinda weirded out. That's why I buy most of my shit through Rightstuf now. Lol

Well I know a guy last year that made a presentation on his review of different anime/manga. Somebody else also shouted something about how he loved Wednesday since Naruto was released those days. This year I see people reading manga (Vampire Knight in particular) so I guess here it's not a big deal.
