With the rise of agents, it's inevitable that change is coming, given its potential, and just like with other cases where new technologies of such magnitude have been introduced, if you don't embrace or at least adopt it, you'll get left behind

I'm tired of LLMs. Not that this space is necessarily of interest to me, but I think that the recent academic fixation on LLMs is misguided, given their flaws. Last year I spent some time working on a research project aiming to use discrete diffusion models to achieve similar results. However, I ultimately disagreed with this method as well. While there is potential upside to using diffusion models - they don't need to predict tokens in order - they have other shortcomings (for instance, needing to determine the length of the output in advance).

Whatever the future of generative models is though, they certainly aren't going away. In my day-to-day life, I find them very useful for checking my understanding of a problem or a concept: I will often post a screenshot of a proof/solution I am reading through or trying to digest and ask if my interpretation of what is happening or my understanding of the significance of the result is correct. It is helpful/accurate about 80-90% of the time.

I use it for BS reasons and I don't feel like using Google. Nothing important.

I partially outsourced my Google queries to it. Why Google it using Boolean Operators with crappy results if AI can provide better output while giving very specific input?

A while ago though, the IT team of where I work was developing an internal AI app for which I was one of the test persons. Currently, our IT environment is still very strongly SharePoint based and I thought it could be useful in finding and organizing documents that are located all over the place, but the results were poor.

I haven't heard anything about in a while now, so I'm pretty sure they're too busy for their little side project and it's somewhere in the freezer.

Lately AI is everywhere, from people messing around with image generators to entire companies rebuilding their workflows around it. I was wondering how it looks for everyone here on AB. Are you already using AI tools in your daily life or work? If so, what’s the actual value you’ve gotten out of it?

For context: I work as an AI Architect for large tech companies, helping them how to actually apply AI instead of just hyping it up. That means a lot of building with agents, training models on company-specific data, and designing setups that don’t just sound cool but really deliver.

Curious to hear what you all are doing. Are you experimenting with prompts, coding with AI, maybe automating parts of your work, or still just watching from the sidelines?

I personally am growing more and more open to A.I.

I use it to brainstorm and clean up concepts and refine my work. In my personal life, I use it to assist with projects, most notably configuring my homelab. For someone who learns by doing first and adding theory on later,A.I is great for me.

The only major pitfall I see that is applicable to myself is over reliance on a tool. I use it to learn and speed up menial tasks.

I wish AI was used with good intent and wouldn't ruin entire cities with its data centers (and it does affect the world). They are literally not doing much in the medical field, and these companies are forcing everybody to use AI. Be it on social media or other platforms that are for our jobs. The fact that anyone can actually put their hands on such a tool, which does not have creativity or soul of its own, makes me think how much we regressed as humans. Artificial intelligence should be used wisely, and yet, all I can see is people making "ai music", "ai art", "ai novels" out of previous real content. Mind you, creativity needs a brain, a real one.
I am not afraid that AI takes my job, but it is sad to see everyone so dependent on a tool that clearly is mal functioning, steals information, provides misinformation, and so on. We must be conscious enough to understand that AI is definitely entering our lives, but we must not support it like we need it to breathe. We still don't.

I am not against those who use it, but I sure can tell the difference between a person who depends on it like their life's ending, or a person who just uses it casually, meaning no harm to others too. That "harm" part is very important, given the several examples that we've had thus far. Creating unauthorized adult content using, mostly, women's real faces is deeply concerning. If the internet was already a problem, imagine now with AI, and the power people have. This not only adds to issues with misogyny, but can also add issues to racism. Or another example, claiming "certain proof" is AI (Kim Soo Hyun case or E files). Everyday we are losing the plot, not being able to distinguish real vs fake art, photographs and videos.
I do not use AI, and if I've used, it was against my will (google search, for example). I try to avoid the AI tools because I don't need them.
I still do my researches, I still click on websites to check sources, I still write on my own by searching synonyms and whatever is needed. Not saying I am perfect, I am just realistic, and I know I don't need a chatbot to tell me everything.
