"Finally, we can go onto layering genjutsu. From your initial explanation you seem to understand the necessary order in which genjutsu needs to be cast i.e stronger > weaker. However there is one more key condition that is necessary when layering genjutsu. This condition could very well under mind the first. Do you know what that condition is?"

"The condition is essentially the lack of contradiction between the two genjutsus, or more if a plethora are utilized. An example may work out here, let's say that a person first used an A-Rank genjutsu causing the opponent to feel a sensation of immense heat, but then cast a B-rank one causing a blizzard to go by, the problem with this is that there are no situations in which a blizzard can cause one to feel immense heat. This creates a contradiction within the chakra streams within your opponent, thus causing them to not compliment one another; henceforth, the two genjutsus are incompatible with one another. Therefore, the stronger genjutsu overwhelms, instead of compliments, the weaker one, and thus the opponent will only feel the heat."

"Now, let's slightly change this. The genjutsus are the same, but now both genjutsus are B-Ranks. What occurs here is that they still conflict with one another, but instead of the heat genjutsu overwhelming the blizzard genjutsu, both of the genjutsus cancel each other out. The reason behind this is that neither one can conquer over the other, and thus they both eliminate themselves, leaving the opponent free from your own genjutsus without putting in any effort towards eliminating them themselves. Thus, care is needed if one is to utilize genjutsu layering properly."

"Very correct. Seeing as you have that level of understanding we can get to the main portion of the training and begin learning the techniques." After traveling some ways, the two kunoichi made it to a large hidden oasis past the thicket of the forest. There was a graceful waterfall flowing into a river and a small shadow of a rainbow from the falling falls.

"From here on out, we'll continue our training here. Now in my system of training there are a total of 5 methods to genjutsu that we'll be going through; Genjutsu Kai, Paralysis/Restriction Genjutsu, Deception Genjutsu, Concealing Genjutsu, and Hypnotic Genjutsu. We will start with genjutsu kai and end with hypnotic. the middle three sections, however, I will give you the choice of which you would like to learn. We'll get to that a little later, first thing's first we're going to go through genjutsu kai.

Let's review. Describe to me again how genjutsu kai works."

"Genjutsu Kai works by slowing the flow of your own chakra before creating a momentary large spike of chakra, this having the effect of pushing any foreign chakra out from your body. This re-establishes the original flow pattern of your chakra, and hence renews its original flow. This can only work once every turn as it requires such a large spike for it to properly work that the stamina most shinobi have for such a maneuver only allows it to function at that ratio; also, I believe it only works for so many times before your mental stamina runs out, thus preventing you from using this method again for the rest of the battle until you properly rest again. Please correct me if any of this is wrong though."

"Correct, however, genjutsu kai can be used as long as one has the chakra potential to do so and as long as they can weave a hand seal. Now, with that being said I want you to go into the center of the river. The exercise I'm going to have you do will help you freely manipulate your chakra for this technique. While your chakra is being externalized as you balance on the water's surface, you will internally preform the process of genjutsu kai. I will place you in a simple genjutsu and I want you to break out of it."

After he brief lecture, Ayane made the tiger hand seal and placed you within an illusion. Several clones of Ayane manifest all over the area on the shores and surrounding you on the pond. They are all identical in appearance down to every last detail.

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

Um, hopefully this is still on time

*Agnes focuses as the clone are "created" around her, beginning to circular chakra throughout her body. Agnes knows, mostly through instruction, that these are fakes, though near perfect fakes, of actual clones, but she also notices how a Tiger hand seal was utilized to create these clones, when a different hand seal, the front two fingers of each hand forming a plus sign if she recalled correctly, are instead utilized for clone creation.*

Let's see if I can perform this correctly.

*She then performs a pseudo-Tiger hand seal, thus causing all the chakra flowing throughout her body to burst out at once. Although there's no visual representation of this phenomenon, the chakra outburst overwhelms Ayane's chakra, thus pushing it out of Agnes' circulatory system, thus ultimately re-balancing her chakra flow. She then smiles, hopefully performing the Kai jutsu correctly.*

Agnes would attempt to break the illusion but nothing would happen after the burst, the dozens of clones would remain. Something had to have gone wrong with the process.

"Your chakra is still disturbed meaning you failed. Don't forget you need to slow your flow of chakra before spiking it."
Ayane hinted.

Erm... same thing applies as last time

*Agnes blushes as she realizes her error, fidgeting her thumbs unconsciously.*

Okay, I did it wrong after all, what a horrible mistake. Terrible, unacceptable even. Why oh why did I forget that...

*She hastily reforms her pseudo Tiger handseal, but then holds it for a moment, initiating a series of deep, slow methodological breathes to help alleviate her anxiety over her failed attempt.*

Okay Agnes, here we go...

*She begins to slow the previously erratic chakra flow, each breath slowing its momentum before slowing to a momentary stop. Sensing this, she pushing the chakra out of all of her chakra points simultaneously, hopefully eliminating the clones from her vision. She then re-establishes her chakra flow through a similar methodology, but reversed where each breath increases the flow of chakra instead of decreases it.*

{Hopefully this is correct... although I feel as if I still missed something here...}

The second attempt proved fruitful for Agnes.

"Very good Agnes, consider genjutsu kai learned. Now we can proceed onto learning how to cast genjutsu. If you recall earlier I mentioned how this academy's training style was based on a system of methods which divided up techniques based on characteristics. If we exclude genjutsu kai, there are four methods: Restriction/Paralysis Techniques, Deception Techniques, Concealment Techniques, and Hypnotic Techniques. Now the last method is something I will save for last since it is a more advanced style that I haven't covered too much prior. The other three methods I will let you decide which ones you want to learn first. So what would you like to learn first?"

Sorry for the six month delay. It's probably going to be too difficult for us to try and keep up with the RPing so we'll stop that for now and I'll take you through the each phase.

The method I classify as "deception" deals with a type of genjutsu that's function is to present relatively well hidden contradiction to an event or action that occurs. For example; creating fireball that is disguised as a lightning ball that would lead your opponent to use a wind technique as they believe the technique is lightning rather than fire. All genjutsu by definition provide some form of deception, however, this method is designed to be more discrete and more effective in forcing your opponent to slip up concealment genjutsu, paralysis genjutsu, hypnotic genjutsu, they may not deal with misleading as much.

Of course it is very rare that most genjutsu out in the open are strictly one type. A few others and myself possess techniques that are clearly hybrids of multiple of the methods explained here. As well, some of the canon techniques may fit into more than one category. The distinctions here are just to get you to familiar with the most fundamental types of genjutsu. When you finish and go to submit your own techniques, you'll be trying to hybridize them too.
