It's both.

The first part is quite funny and gets you attached to the characters, The after story has it's funny parts then it rips your heart out and stomps on it.

I wont recommend it to people with a good life right now or else you wont understand it.. but if you got any problems, real big problems, specially to those things or people that you wanna forget, this anime will help you go back to your old self that youve forget... like i said unless you have a good life you wont understand how they felt you could only guess.
