In the fabled Foosha Village, birthplace of the great Pirate King Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy looked out over the ocean. Sixteen-year-old Unix J. Yomi sat on a pier, watching the rolling waves. He put his hands on his knees, and pushed himself to his feet.

Yomi: Well! Today's the day: I'm setting off!

Walking back through Foosha Village, Yomi stopped in the local bar to see the friends he had made in the pirate group who had been staying there the past month.

Jack: Yomi! How you doing?

Yomi: Fist-mate Jack!

Jack was the first mate of the Deep-Sea Pirates. He was skilled with a rifle and enjoyed using it as a solid bat as well. He was known to take out a swordsman or two in his time, when needed.

Jack: What brings ya' here, Yomi?

Yomi: I'm setting sail today!

Kray: Ha!

Captain Helo Krayloin, or just Capt'n Kray, was the leader of the Deep-Sea Pirates. He had chosen the name because of the time he had spent underwater in the fishman cities. He had nearly drowned had a fishman not taken pitty on his unconcious body. The fishman who saved Capt'n Kray served with Kray for a while, but was killed in battle, leaving Kray's closest human companion, Jack, to be his first-mate.

Yomi: What's so funny, Capt'n Kray?

Kray: Well how old are you!? 12?

Yomi: I'm 16 bloody years old, and you know that Kray!!

Yomi was about to walk over to punch Krayloin's nose when Jack grabbed the back of his shirt.

Jack: He's just winding ya' up, Yomi... Don't pay any attention to him.

Kray: Do you really think you'd be able to survive a day out there on your own?

Yomi: Do you really think I'm going alone?

Kray: Do you think you'll find a crew in this town?

Yomi: No, but I'll sail out to the next island and find someone looking to set sail, just like I am!

Kray: Ha! Good luck with that. You'd be better-off joining us...

Yomi: You're finally giving me a chance to join you!?

Kray: Of coruse not!! That's what I meant by my comment!

Kray stood up and began to walk out of the bar.

Kray: But! If, by some miracle you survive and are able to gather a crew, I'd be more than happy to test the caliber of your men with my own...

Kray then turned away from Yomi and walked through the bar doors, leaving his men to drink and party without him.

Jack: It ain't easy being a pirate, Yomi?

Yomi: Of course not, Jack, I know. But I'm gunna do it!

Jack chugged down the rest of his mug and then stood up to leave after his captain.

Jack: Well, best of luck to ya' kid! I look forwards to meeting your crew.

As Jack stumbled out of the bar, Yomi stared after him.

Yomi: Aye...

On the rooftop of the highest building in Foosha Village, Kray sat, sipping his grog. As he watched the seas, Jack climbed up the the wall and dragged himself next to his captain.

Jack: Do you really think that boy's not gunna make it?

There was a pause before Kray responded.

Kray: ...I think... That boy needs a kick in the pants. He doesn't take this thing seriously at all! He thinks being a pirate is all fun and games, when it's life-risking buisness!

Jack: I see...

As Kray looked out over the ocean in the high noon sun, sipping his grog, he admired the beauty of the scene.

Kray: See Jack, there's a pirate! Setting sail, taking his big ship out to open sea... What flag's flying on the mast?

Jack: Umm... Kray?

Kray: Hm?

Jack: That's our flag; someone's stealing one of our ships.

Nearly gaggin on the sip of grog he was taking, Kray spat out his mouthful and leapt to the edge of the building, pulling out a spyglass.

Kray: I can't make out who it is...

A few minutes earlier, Yomi was wandering the streets of Foosha Village, muttering aloud to himself.

Yomi: Capt'n Kray doesn't think I can be a pirate... I'll show him! Now, what do pirates do...? Attack villages, look for treasure, fight other pirates...

As Yomi muttered, he noticed an unguarded ship which was rather large and set for departure. As he looked, a smile crept across his face.

Yomi: Steal...

Kray: HEY!

Kray ran to the docks of his parting vessle, trying to make out who was onboard, while Jack was informing the rest of the Deep-Sea Pirates of the theft.

Kray: Who are you!?

Yomi: I'm a pirate!!

Standing at the back of the ship, wearing one of Kray's old triangluar pirate hats with a nick out of the right side and a plume out the top, Yomi looked over at Kray, doing his best to keep his joy bottled under a smile.

Yomi: And a damned good one if he can steal a ship from the infamous Deep-Sea Pirates!!

Kray (Under his breath): Yomi!

Kray: Get back here, you hear Yomi! Unix J. Yomi, are you listening to me!?

Yomi: Sorry, Cap! Can't hear you; gotta steer the ship!

Captain Kray watched in horror as his ship nearly rammed head-on into another one of his vessels, scraping by barely to leave with a long scratch down its hull.

Yomi: Whoops. Oh well, battle scar!

Kray: That moron's gunna get himself killed...

Kray chuckled to himself.

Kray: Welcome to the pirate life, Mr. Yomi. Enjoy...

Haddock: We came as soon as we could, Capt'n! Someone stole our ship!?

Kray: Bah, let 'em go; we have plenty!

Jack: Did you find out who stole it?

Kray: I know very well who took it, Jack.

Jack: Was it who I thought it was?

Haddock: Who do we think it is?

Kray: It's him, Jack. If he doesn't hold our promise, I'll skin 'em alive!

Jack: Wouldn't he have to be dead to break our promise.

Kray began walking back towards the bar, through the crowd of his pirate crew.

Kray: Yup!
