I have little reason to believe Lee has surpassed Gai. Gai has too much hype under his belt, and Lee has too much.....nothing.

]. We also have the whole newer generation surpassing the old gen but apart from that, we really don't know anything on Lee. Especially adult Lee.

Keep in mind Gai has lived trough a time of war and hate between villages, shinobi's abilities were necessary because they were constantly getting involved in dangerous missions and things like that (like when team Gai was about to get rekt by the 7 swordmen and Dai came to save them) while Lee's adultship started in a time of peace where it was all like a brotherhood (and this is confirmed in ch. 700 by ten ten), so I don't think Lee had any kind of obligation to get stronger, so i don't think Lee has surpassed him at all.

Edit:Since i don't get english very well I don't know if with "I have little reason to believe Lee has surpassed Gai" you mean that he has chances to have surpassed Gai or if you mean that he hasn't surpassed him.

After i read your post for the second time i realized that you were saying what i said, Gai > Adult Lee

@bold: Kishi mentioned that one time but never showed it that way lol (except for Naruto and Sasuke). When Kabuto revived the old ones we could clearly see that Old > New.
