The rivalry between brother is ended with Sasuke and Naruto becoming friends and support each other. If Boruto X Sarada means to create some power alike Hagoromo and Kaguya then its already outdated. The idea no longer important in Boruto manga because the introduction to more Otsutsuki characters and the clan leaders approve the direction of manga no longer towards the marrige of Byakugan and Sharingan to create a sharingan+byakugan kids or Indra Ashura mix or Hagoromo Hamura mix. I bet Boruto is in higher regards to Otsutsuki clan and his eye roles to the development of the outcoming plot. If Sarada X Boruto means to create another Kaguya, Hamura or Hagoromo it means nothing important by this point.
Sumire is not an Otsutuki member she is an ordinary girl but her roles are the bridge to Kaguya dimension or Otsutsuki planet where Momoshiki and Kinshiki will somehow found the way to earth. Sumire using Kaguya jutsu or rather Otsutsuki planet jutsu and use chakura absorbation as one of her technique. Her connection to Otsutsuki dimension is rather unexplained and the Nue. For what reason the only connection between Boruto and Sumire now is they both can access to the different dimension with Jougan and by Summoning Nue.
As for why I wrote this thread is because first Sumire introduction will be a challenge for Sarada for her love interest. Second Sumire and Nue is connected somehow to Otsutsuki project to access to the earth the same methods with jougan. Third because both Sumire and Boruto connected with the same jutsu/ability thier relations would be developed much further i guess.
