Achieving Greatness

There's a lot of debate about Sasuke being given greatness and all his powers and although a lot of this is true, he does train hard and the Sharingan & MS was his own. Don't care about details atm btw.

But I wanted to highlight one recent issue.

Naruto:

1: Just gained control over Kurama/rather he & Kurama are partners and as such has gained a dramatic increase in strength. This has taken ages, so I feel it was earned.
2: Due to his personality, the other Biju have sided with him and are helping him.
3: He was given chakra as a result of his bond with the Biju, I still think that counts as earning it. No one else ever managed that.

Naruto physically earned his powers.

Sasuke:

1: Just got EMS implanted. Then he rested so as to recover and get full use out of them. I don't feel this power was 'earned' as such. This was a gift/given.

Sasuke passively earned this final power.

It's the last & Biggest power-up, which is why I'm bringing up this issue now. Naruto earned his, Sasuke's was given. Naruto worked hard to get his and really fought for it. Sasuke rested to gain his...

I actually feel that this was a shame. It concreted the fact that Sasuke has been guided to greatness and Naruto has achieved it through hard work. I wanted Sasuke to gain the last & most important powers by himself.

Does anyone agree that this was a shame?

You really can't blame Sasuke considering his powers come from his eyes while Naruto's come from physical training hence why he is the body and Sasuke is the eyes. Sasuke can't train to get his eyes lol.

That's a good point. Sasuke can train in every other field though and can do so with great ease. So saying he's the eyes thus can't train them is all well and dandy but doesn't change the fact that Sasuke could have gotten much better, without resorting to EMS.

Better: he should have gone to an optician then. LOL

I'm not 100% certain. But I think Sasuke would be able to improve his base skills in the same way everyone else did. Also, he could have learnt countless new jutsu.

Sasuke had already been improving loads, so if he'd continued without relying so heavily on his eyes, he wouldn't have cornered himself like he did.
taking the eyes become his only chance at gaining his eyesight and also resulted in him getting a power boost.

To me this was just a tad dissapointing. I wanted to see Sasuke develop by himself.

Agree with you there yeah.

I did hope though that Sasuke would have gotten stronger through some other means...shame.
