In early childhood Torune and his fellow clansman, Shino, grew up as brothers. Torune later decided to join ROOT in Shino’s place. With his nano-sized poisonous insects and clan’s pride, Torune is free from his shackles in the darkness.



He only joined the root to protect his little cousin (shino). And got his neck snapped by obito at the age of 19.

Torune was a strong ninjas possibly the best one shot ninja Kishi made his bugs have a nerf tho they couldnt fly like the other but Torune went against someone that perfectly counters em

Yes it is, the databook confirms it.

So that anime episode can no longer be considered filler. Either kishi liked that episode and made it canon, or he told the anime staff torunes real back story.
