How many thinks that Zoro actually can open his left eye?
I had always had a feeling that Zoro can open his left eye, and I feel like that Mihawk gave Zoro some kind of mission that means that Zoro cant use his left eye, except if he needed to.

Mihawk are known for striking fear to his opponent by staring at them, which means that he has some kind of skill or he maybe has gone thru some kind of training to be able to strike fear to his opponent by looking at them.

The thing that makes it questionable with Zoro is the cut over his left eye, but if we look at the OP world then a cut or cutS over an eye doesnt necessarily make the eye unfunctional, Shanks has 3 cuts over his left eye, Rayliegh has a cut over his right eye which are more identical to zoros cut over his left eye than Shanks 3 cuts, Shanks cuts looks more damaging or deep that both Raylieghs and Zoros for me.

And after the timeskip Zoro has never been in a match were he has been pushed to his limits, for some kind of a reason he has always been fighting opponents who wasnt on his league, the reason can maybe be that Oda wants to hide Zoros left eye or make people speculate about his eye, too when Zoro will fight an opponent who has the upper hand against him, then maybe Zoro will be opening his left eye and in some kind of way gaining more power or something like that.

If we look at onepiece wiki we can read this:physical Abilities
After two years of intense training with Dracule Mihawk, Zoro has grown much more powerful than before. It is shown during his first appearance after the timeskip that he can cut through extremely large objects with incredible ease, speed, and precision (also considering without the use of his left eye). Zoro was even able to cut a Pacifista in half with just one slash from his swords, whereas two years prior he barely managed to only slightly damage one.

Here we can read that Zoro could cut extremely large objects with ease, and doing it without his left eye, which can mean that he would gain more power with his left eye open, and I feel like that the way it is written means that Zoro can use his left eye, but maybe I had understand this sentences wrong.

So all in all I believe that Zoro is capable of opening his left eye and that he will be doing it in a very though fight were the opponent will be closer to the winning side, what are your opinions about his left eye?

The fear Mihawk asserts is Haoshoku Haki

Can't find the panel, but there is one where he directs some sort of burst at Luffy just by staring at him during the MF arc

I don't see how opening his eye would boost his power in any way. More accuracy, better reflexes and better depth perception, all a given, but a boost in power? Nah

That wasn't Haoshoku Haki, that was him tracking Luffy with his impeccable eyesight.

Luffy stumbled because Mihawk sent a flying slash at him.

Well if there is more to it then we will see but if there is then its either comnected to CoO so it wld boost observation or not connected to CoO but it still boost observationary ability.

Another option has to do with fear projection which cld b just imense bloodlust wave upon opening or that and a mix of Haoshoku and bcoz its got blood lust that haoshoku wave might even unnerve pple of strong will.

Then the most unlikely coz of the fact that op doesnt have an energy system, is it wld boost his strenght allowing greater cutting ability but i guess it cld b connected to CoA too and when opened the eye lets all of his haki to b put into a single attack so augmenting it heavily(this thought up from the Luffy haki regenaration scenario) so it will b much like kenpachi but rather when closed he is storing haki but if need arises he can still use haki withought opening the eye coz thats for a special once off use(similar to Tsunade seal I guess).

There's definitely more to it. Like you said others have been sliced on the eye and seemingly worse. He's probably concealing some power similar to Kenpachi from Bleach.

Maybe what ever power he has requires him to keep his eye closed so he only uses it in one eye so he can use the other to see normally.

I actually like this threads idea, I had never thought of that.
