I would like to say something to everyone who reads this thread......as you can see it is about itachi...many have overrated him and at he same time many have underrated him as well....i believe so far as his roles as a shinobi are concerned, itachi has surpassed almost everyone in history....he was a selfless person, a true ninja who stayed by his own nindo, he killed his clan because of circumstances, he knew he was wrong, he knew he had no other option left and he knew that he had to protect his beloved little brother and his village. he knew the consequences, he had to live a cursed life as a villain, never acknowledged as the real hero but despised by the village for his apparent crime. but he never expected anything in return as long as his village was safe. even in his last moment of his life, he cancelled the edo tensei and changed the course of the war...as mentioned by onoki that whoever is responsible for the release of edo tensei should be considered as a hero. even in his final moment he tried to change sasuke's mind and prevent him from taking his village on the leaf and showed him the truth. itachi's life was cursed, killing his parents with his own hands, living the life of a rogue ninja filled with guilt but still playing his role as a ninja of the leaf, not expecting any acknowledgement in return, he died with a smile on his face.
as for itachi's capabilities i believe in battles he shouldn't be underestimated. even though he isn't physically strong or fast or does not have raw power, his skills, his talent, his intelligence and his analysing ability are enough for him to be a tough opponent for anyone. he has an uncanny ability to forsee things and plan accordingly, he can analyse a weakness of any jutsu, he has the most powerful ninjutsu amaterasu and his susanoo is equipped with totsuka sword that can seal any weapon and the yata mirror that can block any attack. so technically itachi is invincible as stated by black zetsu which is basically madara's knowledge. his only weakness is his stamina. but i still think and believe that he can beat most of the chatacters in the narutoverse with or without difficulty. he has a chance even if it is faint, of beating most of the powerful ninjas with his skills, his excellent analysis and presence of mind. haters can call me a fanboy but i do have logical reasons to justify why my favourite character Itachi can be a powerful shinobi and has the ability to hold his own against every other in 1V1 matchups....i'm not saying that he will always win, but i'm saying that he can win even if chances are slim. admit it or not, that depends on you, many overrate him that's true...but this is my opinion about him as a reader and as a fan.
P.s. itachi's role as a shinobi and his powers together are balanced with sheer perfection......so to me he is a god of shinobi....even if he's not as great as hashirama senju, madara uchiha or sage of six paths
