How come no ninja used transformation jutsu to turn into animal, I mean wouldn't the ninja be able to fly if they turn into bird or run really fast by turning into a cheetah?

Naruto and gamabunta transformation allowed gamabunta to have claws to grab on to Shukaku, what is stopping ninja from gaining animal abilities?

I think it just transforms the outside appearance. You can't use transformation jutsu, turn into kakshi then bust out raikiri just because you transformed into Kakashi.

That's not even at all comparable to transforming into a bird to fly... :|

The answer is likely that ninjas are already able to outperform against animals already.

Plot basically. Henge was and still is quite a powerful & useful tech with an irreplaceable utility in Ninja esque missions.
Which unfortunately there wasn't enough of in this manga.

Keen sensors whom know the chakra signature of the shinobi who's being imitated should see right through it however.

I don't think the appearances is the only thing that changes, otherwise Gamabunta couldn't have claws by transforming into Kurama. By that logic if Gamabunta turns into a bird he should be able to fly since he has wings. If Gamabunto turns into a mole he should be able to dig.

I agree with chopstickchakra. If they can just transform into something, the Shinobi Alliance should have transformed into Madara right away when he was revived, ending up in a Madara Battle Royale. Since they have Madara's abilities, they can summon a hell of numbers of Susasno'o to defeat him. It is only the appearance, I believe.

It's the exact same concept, he's saying transform into something to gain abilities it has that you don't. When Naruto transformed into Sasuke that didn't magically grant him the ability to do katon so how is that idea different than assuming transforming into a bird lets you fly? They may be wildly different points on the scale but they are on the same scale. If you were to use transformation jutsu tot urn into a dog would you expect to get the heightened smelling of a dog, no because if that's all it took the entire Inuzuka clan would lose a very big part of their character.

Transform give the user the physical capability of the transformed animal, which is why Gamabunta while transformed as Kurama was able to have claws and use it like it was natural for him.

Transform doesn't give the user chakra or element what so ever, just the physical capability, Naruto turning into a bird he have the wings which physically can fly.

Good idea. Plot restricted it though.

Just because his opinion agrees with yours doesn't make it right idiot.

If you honestly can't see the difference between using transformation to have access to physical wings, and using it to gain learned abilities, you're a moron.

The first scenario has already happened.

Problem with that logic is that Katon requires chakra, flying does not.

Using claws is not the same as flying though

Well, maybe flying would be harder for them (as it doesn't come naturally to a person). Using claws is more basic. As for running away, trained humans have more stamina than cheetahs even in real life, and ninjas can already run/jump pretty fast, so I doubt they'd have much advantage if they transformed into a cheetah.
