About the Natural Laws of the Narutoverse...

Could it be that energy naturally takes the form of an animal (or dragon) when it's exposed to even a LITTLE chakra? At least if no attempt is made to control its form? Perhaps even the animal most suited to whoever's technique it is?

Reasoning is that the Hyuuga value efficiency. Their techniques are not flashy (as a rule) but very deadly. And why would something looking like a lion make it more dangerous?

Sasuke's Kirin:

Kirin is basically just Sasuke directing a lightning bolt from the sky(!). Why would a lightning-bolt look like a dragon?

Kisame's various sharky water techs, exemplified by the Daikodan:

Kisame might have made his signature jutsus sharklike himself (to honor his ancestors or something, I don't know). This one isn't conclusive.

Kakashi's Lightning Hound:

Kakashi is also a pragmatic person and wouldn't bother making his chakra doglike when an amorphous mass would do just as well. Yet when he releases direct control of the Raikiri into a distance attack, it becomes a dog.

And last but not least:
Maito Gai's HIRUDORA!

This is in my opinion conclusive evidence. Hirudora is just(!) a punch, there's NO WAY it should NATURALLY take the form of a TIGER. So perhaps the Narutoverse is different from ours in this as well? (Tiger fits Gai, as he's prideful, strong and roars his call all over the place. At all times.)

PS: Hirudora is in all-caps because Gai SHOUTED it.

It's purely made up of NATURAL chakra. Why would Natural chakra make you look like a Toad? Toads aren't any more natural than humans (well, maybe at Mt Myobokuzan)

The Bijuu were originally PURE CHAKRA DIVIDED UP FROM THE JUUBI, yet they ALSO took the shape of animals.

It would look hella boring if Kirin was just one strike of lightening, if kakashi just shot out a swerving piece of lightening, if hinata just had boring chakra auras around her fists, kisame just shoots out boring water, if gai just shot an air line with his 7th gate thing, etc...

There's a buttload of them, I didn't include Zabuza's Water Dragon, Anko's Fire Dragon or Sarutobi's Great Fire Dragon either.

How the **** would you make a Tiger out of a really hard punch? I mean, sure, punch in a tigerheadlike fashion at physics-breaking speed all you want, but how does that POSSIBLY apply STRIPES?

You are insulting me if you think I didn't even notice the names of the techniques before posting this.

My point is, did the chakra taking a particular form give the techniques their names rather than the other way round? Gouryuuka (Great Fire Dragon) no jutsu is performed by seals and simply exhaling powerfully. Do the seals implant a draconian DESIGN into the fire rather than simply create it and make it hot enough to be dangerous?

That seems wasteful enough that ninja's using those sorts of techs should have been killed off by those using more specialized and better forms for their ninjutsu a LONG time ago.

i'm going with the entertainment purposes thing...its a cartoon and nearly no physical laws apply, like this for example how do they always jump perfectly to the next branch in the anime wouldn't yo think there would be different spaces between the trees?

Well in naruto there are hardly any laws of physics involved. By the laws of physics none of those jitsus should even be possible, so you cant use that. Bu i'm sure that when the jitsu has a certain shape it becomes more effective, i mean look at hoshikage's great sharks, they would be useless had they been shaped like spheres, so i guess the shapes are also determined by the users seals (meaning they are intentional) and if they werent then the uchihas would be stupid for making so many fire style techs with different shapes when they could have made them all look like the grand fire ball tech. I also think the shapes are ment to intimidate opponents. But i guess some techs simply assume shapes, eg great water wave
