[Suggestion] About the contests...

I went through some of the contests on NB.
There are three winners holding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Sometimes it's only 1st and 2nd OR it's only 1st.

Long before, Kumi used to be given to the 2nd and 3rd winners. But that system is stopped now.
According to one of my friend,

Kumi was a system used to exchange 'the things', it was something like currency of Narutobase. The system got closed

I think, this might be ONE of the reasons some members still participated in the contests even if they didn't stand 1st, right?

The prize for the 1st prize winner is
- a medal
- *username color change to cyan
- *username change
- *temporary 150x300 avatar
- A mention in the Hall of Fame.
(* I think for 1 month, if I'm wrong then please correct me)

And still the 2nd and 3rd winners get nothing.

I would like to suggest the following prize for the 2nd and 3rd winners.
(Assuming 1 month part for the 1st prize winner)

for 2nd winner - ( for half month or 15 days or 2 weeks )
username color change to cyan
username change
temporary 150x300 avatar

for 3rd winner - ( for 1 week )
username color change to cyan
temporary 150x300 avatar

( if the assumption is over-calculated then whatever be the period, make it half for the 2nd and 3rd prize winners each )
IMO, I guess that would be fair for the 2nd and 3rd winners since they also worked hard for their submissions to get the 1st prize.

Also I think the purpose of these contests is to bring out the talent for some members who likes to spend their time on NB.

No, the second and third places shouldn't get cyan. That is a prize for only the first place, makes it more special. Also depending on the amount of people that joins the weekly/monthly contest; will decide if there will be a second and third place. Also the temporary 150x300 avatar is tied with the cyan. It isn't it's own thing.

Each contest has it's own set of rules, and own set of prizes according to how many people enter, and whatnot. Personally I think it is fine the way it is. Sometimes only having first place can be good, makes people try their hardest.

For example the Album of the Week contest; the second and third places get the following.
2nd Place
~Username Change and a Medal (if submissions were more than 10)
3rd Place (only if the submissions were more than 10)
~Username Change

Also kumi was supposed to be for RP purposes; but that didn't happen so it was just for show and people tried to get as much as they could, some people wanted kumi for payment for making avatars and whatnot.

Prizes vary from contest to contest. What you mentioned is in the case of FUB. While in few other contests, award is given to 2nd or 3rd place if sufficient number of entries are there, common example being AoTW.
In art contest or profile contest, there are still awards for second or third places.
About FUB, I think second and third place should at least get chance to change name and 150X300 AVA permission. Considering the fact that Zise gave permission to retain cyan for a month, I don't think cyan must be given to second or third winner, since just like Nathan mentioned it is especially made for the first prize.U_U

I agree with the cyan part and username change part.
Does that mean nothing for 2nd and 3rd winners?
As -Sach- said, I made this thread based on FUB. If there are prizes given in other contests then why unfair to the FUB? I don't know but there might be more than one contest section where this might be happening, right?
Why didn't anyone took a note of it and did something for the better of this "NB Contest" Section?
Isn't there something with which they can be rewarded? And I think number of members participating (at least in FUB) isn't considered.

Funny, I had messaged Zise about this but not in this format.

I was thinking about it last night before I headed off to bed. If you give medals to 2nd-3rd place winners it might take away the uniqueness of the FUB award medal. Maybe if they were given a generic award (2nd & 3rd Place) then it might be okay but then that would pose a problem because almost everyone would have an award. It's not my call or decision, but I do not agree on the larger avatar since that is something that is tied to groups (I think) and special to first place winners. It would be nice to have a currency of some sort or something else that could supplement what once was kumi prizes. But taking Nathan's post into consideration, it should only be when the amount of submissions reaches a certain amount of numbers like 10-20 entries. Just my opinion though so don't take my word for it.

You don't even get an award, for second and third places in FUB. Suppose a guy who got a second place, lost by just one vote, then it would be really sad for him to not get anything, just because he lost by one vote. I think an award would suffice. As Deviation said, 2nd and 3rd place winners for FUB can get atleast a normal award, if not anything. A normal award would suffice.

Well, it was just my suggestion for the 2nd and 3rd winners. I'm not the one to decide what should be the prizes, but the winners (2nd and 3rd) still need to be rewarded with "something" which can encourage them to participate for more, right? =D

FUB is a weekly contest, and it's not like there are a really large number of contestants each week, giving out medals and cyan usernames for 2nd and 3rd place is too much for such a contest. I do agree about the part of getting 2nd and 3rd place winners a little something though, maybe contest points or something but it would just be so they don't go empty handed. But those prizes you recommended won't work.
