I made the mistake of trying to view 4K on my laptop(big mistake) so that's a FAIL on my end I know. What I want to know is my graphic card ok if I still have a visual output?

Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

see what hardware is connected, for win 7
right clk on My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>expand "Display Adapters"
if u can see ur graphics card then its ok and still kikin :)

Btw, here's something some people don't know.
If you have a 2k res picture and a 1080p monitor, your monitor won't show the full detail of the 2k res pic as it's a 1080p monitor and not a 2k res monitor. Therefore, a monitor will not go higher than what it supports.

I was going to say that but I felt it was understood. :)

You forgot to note that if you do try to do that, it will be forcibly downscaled.
