In the filler episode we see Ashura get RSM from getting chakra from Hagoromo and other people, while Indra got MS from killing his friends. Had Indra got Ashura dna and unlock rinnengan how different would the battle be?

Ashura got RSM the highest level of SM, while Indra got MS which is lower tier than tomoe Rinnengan and Rinnengan.

Indra is Ashura’s blood brother so he doesn’t need his dna, and he already has Six path chakra in his ocular powers.
The manga said that Indra’s reincarnates have the potential to awaken the rinnegan, not Indra himself I’m sad to say.

Getting the rinnegan is not as common as you think and not ever reincarnate with Hagoromoo’s chakra will awaken the rinnegan, many have tried and only 2 of them succeeded.

He was already on pat with an MS, with the Rinnegan Indra would be overkill.

This is pretty much true. Indra already had a pure EMS powered by rikudo chakra (being the direct first born of Hagoromo) So it’s safe to assume Indra’s MS was probably the most potent one in history barring having the Rinnegan directly.

Same with Ashura who obtained the Ashura Avatar without Indra’s DNA. Because being the direct offspring of Hagoromo and the Otsutsuki lineage afforded both that leap in power without having to mix their respective DNAs.

And like Rikudou Tobi pointed out, not everyone from their lineage awakens the Rinnegan. I mean look how long it took for Black Zetsu to find someone capable of succeeding in waking the Rinnegan.

Is it sure Hagoromo gave his chakra?
I think he just chanelled the ninshuu students chakra into Ashura, that would correlate to the manga scan that says that love and cooperation was what made Ashura stronger than Indra.
He also said that he doesn't want to act, he just wants to be a sage and talk to solve problems, but never act with his strength after he defeated his mother.

It is possible that what Indra has not a Mangekyou but something similar. Otherwise, that would retcon the notion that Madara was the first to unlock the Mangekyou. Many of us aware how retcons can really screw the already inconsistent Narutoverse timelines.
