The boss metalcore pedal is great, at guitarcenter they have that pedal available for demo and it gives a really good sound. If you're looking for a good overdrive pedal I'd recommend a Maxon808 . Adam D, who produces everything from Killswitch Engage and All That Remains to Shadows Fall records, uses those pedals for a heavy guitar sound.
