Couldn't care less about Itachi. As for A going up against 6 Paths of Pain, he would ultimately loose. Without intel its almost impossible to go up against the Paths.

-Speed is countered by having shared visions. Is A smart enough in battle to deduce that they have a linked vision?
-Is A smart enough to deduce each abilities? Bearing in mind that unlike Jiraiya, who had knowledge about Nagato and had met the former bodies of Paths gave him the hint he needed. Also A would have to ponder about the usual starting position by the paths with Preta infront and Naraka well defended at the back.

The Paths have too much in their arsenal of attacks that would give A enough hassle. Unless A first takes out Naraka Path then everything else A would do would be futile as the Paths can afford to have their bodies destroyed but the same thing cannot be said for A.
