I cannot facepalm myself enough after reading this... *sigh*
First of all, any computer that is viewing the site and is not "logged in" as a member appears as a Guest. Always the number of guests is higher than the number of members. Simple fact is that you don't need to be a member to view the manga for example (which makes anyone who is simply reading the manga be tagged as a guest) and all spam bots, etc access the site and are tagged as guest. Any access to view the site is tagged as a guest. Guests don't mean a person who is a potencial member on the other side 100% of the times. At best, 5%.
The registrations were closed not because of space or anything of the sort. It was closed because of trolling behavior of the ACTIVE MEMBERS which lead to a very high level due the the massive alt creation issues. *facepalm*. The inactive accounts aren't the ones who flame the staff, troll, make alternate accounts, insult other members, etc etc. The ones who do that are the ACTIVE members.
Also, I dunno why this fixation everyone is having with an inactive account. It does no harm and it can't simply be delted. Many things come attached to the number of accounts. 2 main issues exist: database consistency and stats. If you delete accounts, you delete posts, threads, groups, vms, etc. Most of that leads to broken errors in the database if done in such a scale as what you suggest. Stats are gained by the number of threads, posts, members and hits on the site. Deleting accounts in such a manner would hurt the stats which hurt the advertise income which in turn makes it harder to sustain and pay for the servers which keep the site working.
The closed registrations aren't a permanent solution. Its a temporary one. For now, behave, folllow the rules. The quciker the base is at a living, positive level, the sooner the registrations will be opened. Rest is in the hands of the admins.
