Aye is simply not getting caught in any visual genjutsu (Fact he had to get grabbed to get caught, no disputing unless), and finger gen is too slow and easily countered or broken since it only changes reality to attempted to mind fuq you.

As for the Sasuke and Ay argument, Ay was simply fast enough to evade Amaterasu. It's as simple as that. Sasuke wasn't keeping up with Ay's movement in V2.
