It was izanagi. Here are my points why:

1. He had his mask off which he never did. This allowed him to utilize his left eye that was always covered.
2. He said it was a secret he kept from Itachi. Itachi worked with Obito and knew his eye power but did not know he could use Izanagi necessarily.
3. Izanagi was revealed a short time later in the manga, implying it is the solution to the problem.
