A thing about the boruto series characters

I noticed there’s something missing in boruto completely besides the obvious, mysterious legendary characters, ie, the sannin, Sakumo, etc.

In naruto we had people like itachi, the sannin, etc that where all these mysterious powerful ninja at some point in the series. Remember itachis first appearance? Remember oros? Boruto by default can’t really have characters like these, because they’re all the main cast of the last series. There’s no mystery to unravel. Like there’ll be the villains and stuff. And there’s kk(also a villain) but overall there’s a lack of world building in boruto cause the worlds already built.

Just a morning rant on something else wrong with boruto that popped in my head, thoughts?

KK can be up there with itachi and jiraiya and what not. u'll never know he can be a double agent and be on boruto's side at some point. we also have jigen delta their powers and backstories are all a mystery they can add alot to the boruto series. we just have to be patient

I agree it's a major let down, part of Naruto was the introduction of characters. I remember thinking Kakashi was a bad as then in came Orochimaru making him sweat. Then I remember think Orochimaru was a badass and in came Itachi with Orochimaru admitting inferiority. All those introduced were unique yet had some major relevance to the plot and story alongside their mystery.

The series is a disgusting money grab that could’ve been executed perfectly if it went along the route that Avatar: Legend of Korra route where the veterans of the war are relics and the world had already been shaped by the Kote devices and such.

But then we’re still in the same problem. We already know those people and their powers just like we know the current set of “legends” like naru/sasu/saku. I mean yea, each of the sannin got brought down a peg, but these where all home grown people from this village that where legendary and relatively unknown and shown yet.

Our best bet is kara, but even then where’s the ones on the good side? It’s gonna look half assed if some decently strong character with interesting powers that has a positive connection to our heroes just pops up out of history

I was specifically referring to bringing back characters we barely know anything about or seen in action like "Sakumo", "Shisui", or a past and mysterious kage we've seen or learned about, Sumire's father (Not powerful but a little bit interesting), etc...

Ah ok, that would work too, I’d love to see an edo Shisui or sakumo, or even just kakashi gaiden style flashbacks tbh

Yes, folklore and legend was a huge part of the naruto series.

Part 1 built everything up
Part 2 either further emphasized or brough reality to the legends


Minato was a perfect example of this:

Man who sealed Kyuubi
Man who could stop orochimaru
Man who defeated Obito

We already had that with Itachi and Black Zetsu... this series doesn't offer anything new or unique

There's the whole rest of the Otsutsuki Clan we've yet to see (possibly), Kara, KK and Jigen specifically, mystery of Karma and Jogan, other villains we've yet to see, and the world's ultimate fate in the conclusion of the story. Granted we don't have as much lore as the 15+ years worth of content Naruto was built on.. but Boruto is going to be a relatively short story.

The pacing is the only thing that is making this seem too long with not enough lore. I assume this will only be going on for another 2 years, which will put this at a total of 6 years in run-time (movie aired in 2014. Basing it off of that.) Despite it probably reaching the 6 year mark in air-time, we will only really have about 3-4 years worth of content due to how everything is written. With what I listed above as the content yet to be fully revealed, it is safe to say that we technically do have enough lore for the amount of actual content we will be getting.

It's still possible. Naruto's manga focused heavily on the Leaf, & we saw little of other villages beyond their kages and the kages' assistants. It's entirely possible that key players could have appeared or developed in the other villages. I'm honestly going to be disappointed if this isn't the case with how connected the villages should be now.

I thought about this too, but these are just new alien characters included. I mean more of what’s mellanoma said. Kinda like lore that exists within the main setting that we haven’t been introduced to yet. By default boruto starts out with a huge disadvantage in that area, which is a weird thing to do considering how heavy the naruto series was on that type of stuff, imo at least
